They say a lot of the women in America wouldn't vote for a woman and I suppose there's still a lot of men who wouldn't vote for a woman as President, not easy getting a woman elected if that is the case,

Replying To Trump2020:  "BOTH Obamas were out campaigning for Harris as well as the Clintons and countless celebrities and they STILL lost in a landslide! I think you OVERESTIMATE the pull of Michelle Obama. Whitmer? She couldn't prevent Trump from taking Michigan and the rest of the so called Blue Wall. Shapiro makes more sense than your other suggestions though he'd have a problem in Michigan and places with large Muslim populations."
A lot can change in 4 years. And that's unfair on Whitmer. That was a protest vote in a State that's not guaranteed red or blue.

Also you can't pin blame on the Obamas. They can't swing a vote that much if they are not the actual candidate.

Has to be demoralising for the likes of our own Pearse Doherty, a very able politician to know he'll likely always be in opposition."
I think FF won't go into coalition with SF as long as Martin is leader, that might change if Jim O Callaghan got the leadership of FF.
SF see themselves as a left wing party in the 26 counties (not the case in the 6 counties) but the other left wing parties turn their nose up at them. In realty SF need to be clear what they stand for as no- one knows what they stand for any more and remember what their primary objective is .

It only works if you go like for like.

Median income for a couple works out at 85k plus change. That allows borrowing of 297.5k for a mortgage of 327.25k.
That's enough for the median house price in 22 of the 26 counties (data doesn't include the 6 counties).

Of course, it's not enough for a house in Dublin - so back to my point: people need to open their mind to the notion of a commute to work.

Median salary in Ireland is 36k pa.
Also you are using an example which isn't typical of the average Irish household. Most families do not have 2 parents working fulltime.
And you aren't factoring in childcare costs for those families who are.
Finally Median house prices include numerous 1 bedroom apartments which aren't suitable for families in the 1st place."
.

That's simply not true.
It was over 43k in 2023.

Bottom line is family homes are out of reach for most young families in this country.

Lads ye do realise these people also had jobs. You can debate how effective they are as politicians but you can't just call them celebrities as if they are online influencers who do nothing day to day.

They are celebrities though and almost certainly would not be chosen or get elected off their own backs if they weren't

It boosts the profile for sure but the Rose of Tralee has been elected to roles more than once now so I am assuming she does actual work for the people who choose her more than once??

They way it's calculated doesn't really tell the story though. It's the total amount earned for PAYE divided by the number of workers. No consideration for zero hour contracts or executives on 6/7 figures. They're all in the same sum.

Find one post here where I've been complementary to Trump?

I think I've called him a flute a teapot etc.

Saying he was going to win was not an endorsement just not blinded by dislike

You've made yourself look foolish here with your predictions ( have you done similar re Michael Murphy?)

Take your humble pie good lad

It's hardly a massive stretch to predict a Harris win lad. You are a huge expert based on saying Trump will win. I assume you posted this pre election?
