Any news on when the fixtures are out? Players should know at least 2 weeks before games when and where they will be playing. Unfair on players that might work shift work - E.G Guards and Nurses that will need to request time off in advance."
Its the same old story in Westmeath, we are 8 days out from the commencement of the league and there is no actual dates and times for the opening round of the league. The yearly plan has been released with the weekends of the games which is a good start but not knowing the exact dates and times is not fair to players (especially those that work weekends) to schedule their time to suit the date/time of the game/games. And keep in mind a lot of players will be involved in their clubs opening 2 games (for those teams that have 2/3 teams).

Maybe there is an issue with scheduling referees etc. Maybe somebody on this Forum might have more information.

Only sent to clubs for some reason!!!! Would be great as a supporter to have some information on the club fixtures for the year.

Is there any idea when the club championship will start?

Just looking at the team for Cork.

No goalkeeper on panel.

McCormack starting in goals again and Daly not named on bench. Kieran Martin down as number 16. Surely he isn't being used as back up keeper?

Number 16 would suggest he is.

Bookies not giving our footballers much of a chance at 15/2 vs Cork.
Never seen a poor bookie yet but I'll have little wager on our lads - Cork seem to be missing a lot.
Don't know how Scahill isn't getting into the team but then again I'm not at training.
Interesting pairing at midfield if that's what starts - good to see Ormsby on the bench who might bring a bit height to the midfield area as the season goes on. Connellan and Guerin are losses no doubt.
Interesting to see Kilmartin from The Downs added - has he played county before ? One of the better forwards in the club championship over the last few seasons so deserves a go.

While 15/2 is crazy I still can't see us winning in Cork but hope I'm wrong . Our lads will likely give another good account of themselves. I thought O'Hara did well in Clones and might start this week. Guerin and Connellan will be missed.

Have to agree good to see Kilmartin I think Joe Moran is worth a run as well. Had a very good championship. we need good backs to keep the score down.

Agree 100% It could actually be argued that under the new rules the full back line has replaced the half forward line as most important on the pitch.

Looks like a pretty understrength Cork side starting

Cork are not in a good place at the moment as a lot of there best players are out injured or retired. Theyre vulnerable like ourselves. 15/2 is a great price for a Westmeath victory today. I guarantee you it will be a 1 pt or 2 pt game either way

Westmeath would be a decent team if they had a goalkeeper with a half decent kickout

You were right that a transitional Westmeath team wouldn't beat Cork in Pairc Ui Chaoimh!! Wow, your local bookies must hate to see you coming.
