Replying To BigSur:  "Unreal performance. Outmuscled for long periods but stuck at it, sometimes brains succeeds over brawn. 4 points behind halfway through 2nd half, they really dug deep with Athy struggling against the wind. CBS got back level and had chances to win it in normal time. I wouldn't call Athy a dirty team but certainly very physical. Sending off was significant especially as he couldn't be replaced.
Great win for the town and Westmeath with a good spread of clubs, backboned by recent Shamrocks minor teams. Unreal to think thet did out with 2 definite starters in Leech and Ormsby."
Very insulting to what is a skillful Athy football team. If anything it was Athy who were out muscled in midfield which led to the concession of the two first half goals. Despite this they dominated the rest of the first half and with a little more compusure in the final minutes should have won.
However it was an excellent game of football played in a great spirit. Judging by the dominance of Kildare and Westmeath schools this year and in Kildare's case over the past number of years both counties can look forward to good u20 teams in the coming years.

Best of luck to Coláiste Mhuire for the rest of the championship.

Not sure he was insulting Athy, they were a fine side, arguably the better side for good spells but they had five yellow cards before the sending off so you could argue it was coming. Five yellows in fifty mins at underage level is pretty high. The new rule where sent off players can't be replaced was costly for Athy.

Credit to both teams, very evenly matched and agree if anything Athy were the better team overall. Colaiste Mhuire had that bit of extra class to get over the line in extra time. Scahill for only a TY student looks the real deal, this was the first proper test Colaiste Mhuire have gotten. It was a fantastic game and as I said a massive well done to both sets of players and everyone involved in a great spectacle for Schools football. The future looks bright

Great advertisement for 2nd Level GAA in Tullamore yesterday - impressed with conditioning of both teams. Colaiste Mhuire had the little bit of luck go their was. Could have gone either way. Great chance to build a legacy group in that school now with Juniors coming through.

Any idea when league fixtures are released and will all nine games be announced or just the opening round?

Serious win for CBS, players were really well coached and never hit the panic button at all. Athy were a really good team and had more scoring options than CBS on the day. The turning point ( apart from the red to what was probably their best player ) was CBS dominating the kick out. It stopped Athy controlling the game. Credit to every player and person involved in CBS. Great support and will boost the school and hopefully Westmeath for years to come.

Draw would be a great result away to Cork on saturday then 2 wins from last 3 games at home should keep us in div.2-a big ask but this young team are playing well-just need a bit of luck.

CBS 1st years beat St Pats Navan 2-8 to 2 -3 away to make the Br Hubert Cup final. Good times continue for Colaiste Mhuire

Now that the dust has settled on the Bosco cup, just want to congratulate everyone involved. What a year so far. From 1 to 33 they were phenomenal. The game had everything, mistakes, turnovers, scores, cards, sweat, grit, determination and some class. Cbs were slow to start and looked nervous, 2 goals kept them in the game, but 8 scores to 4 at half time in favour of Athy. Cbs stepped up in 2nd half, weir, maloney, maguire, Byrne, ohara and scahill just all stood up. Scahills frees on the edge of new D, with athy fans roaring at him were just class, Sheerin got the equaliser. Extra time never looked in doubt. What a team of Westmeath men. Thornton is a future snr captain, he has it all. The run from scahill to sent up byrne at end of game is as good a run as I have seen on a pitch. Well done to the management, the Ultras and the school. Hopefully push on now and see these stars playing for westmeath in not to distant future.

ACFL down to start in 10 days. It will run for 3 weekends in a row before the Hurling league starts then it will be week on week off for both codes.

Any news on when the fixtures are out? Players should know at least 2 weeks before games when and where they will be playing. Unfair on players that might work shift work - E.G Guards and Nurses that will need to request time off in advance.

dean mcnicholas and his management should be considered for a county management role

Any suggestions Mick? U20 & minor roles are recently filled & unlikely to change for a couple of years. It would be good to see them involved with some of the development squads from U14 to U16.

Does anyone know when these league fixtures will be released? Seems crazy that in 8 or 9 days players could have two league games in a weekend and yet they don't know yet which of the three days it'll take place.

McNicholas should have been considered for the Westmeath senior job, ridiculous he was overlooked tbh. Maybe Dean could save the Pass from another semi final tanking this year.
