Replying To jimbodub: "Only my opinion
But given what we know of SC, it wouldn't be at all surprising if that's exactly why he wants to stay on, maybe after a sit down with Dessie and he wants to be there to help this transition.
I don't think we'll ever see Jack again, what a player.
Paul Mannion, might give it another go, he's a big loss." Hearing John Small could be stepping away also. Mick Fitz will too. That is 6 of our starting 15 gone. Nightmare.
Clucko going again for another year but will the new rules suit him.??
Delighted to see CK as new Captain. Fully deserved recognition. What a trojan he has been.

What a win. Apart from 2011 arguably the biggest one.
Time now for a big transition, and 100% you couldn't have a better captain. Absolutely deserved and then some.
Time now to rebuild and go again, as you well know, still a very talented team, you have the experience and now the exuberance of younger lads, which I'm in no doubt are will to run through walls.
Looking forward to it

I'm a bit long in the tooth, going to take me a while to get my head around these new rules, I think a couple of them have merit" The stupid offensive mark has to go. Keep the kickout mark to encourage high fielding.

Replying To cluichethar: "The stupid offensive mark has to go. Keep the kickout mark to encourage high fielding." To be honest, I don't like the mark.
Not the game I grew up playing when all you have to do is catch a ball as a forward, and you've a chance for a free kick at goal without a glove being laid on you, it's lessened the sport.
Never liked the idea of it, was against it before a ball was kicked, and then watching it in practice confirmed it, it's dire imo.
Fair enough, from a kickout, and help award high fielding without being swarm tackled when you land.

Totally agree with you Jimbo… some of these new rules are just ridiculous and will end up turning people completely of the game including referees… I never liked the forward mark in its original guise but this new form is nothing short of laughable.. You would wonder how former inter county players could come up with such nonsense…?

The fact that you can catch the ball then proceed forward and have a shot at a goal knowing that you can go back and take your point if you miss is a joke. What can defenders do, I'm all for scoring but this is beyond dumb.

Donegal v Dublin
Tough game ahead, I was encouraged by some of the performances against Mayo, that was a good first day out for the Dubs getting a solid game in under the new rules, good way to get the legs going with 1-17 in return but they conceded 1-15, a tighter defensive performance might see them take something from the Donegal game.
Donegal haven't played yet with the Kerry game being postponed, so it's a difficult game for them too. I wonder how the pitch is playing up there? Far from an easy game, I tipped Donegal on the predictions thread by a couple of pts, with them being at home and a tough away game, I also fancy Donegal to have a good year in 2025, year 2 of Jim McG.
Let's see, should be a tight competitive game

It took a lot out of them and they fell short last year, when in reality they should have pushed on in that 2nd half v Galway, but we didnt have the legs for it.
The 3 standout wins were 2011, 2023 and of course beating Kerry by 6pts to win the 5 in a Row... But I think you are correct - the sweetest was the victory in 2023, for our 31st Sam.
Big rebuild now.
Losing 3, possibly 4, stars aged only 31 shows that it is fast becoming a young mans game now.
Delighted CK is leading the transition, on the pitch. No better man for the job.

Delighted with the 3 wins last weekend - Ladies, Footballers & Hurlers.
The Jackies had a 3pt win over their Mayo counterparts. 5 different scorers in a very new look Dublin team. Chloe Darby impressed. And Leah Caffrey always leads by example. Looking forward to seeing how the joint management of Paul Casey and Derek Murray gets on.
The footballers had 7 different scorers and Bugler played a stormer. It is always a great game playing Mayo. CK was imperious, what a player. And some of the newbies played well, inc Luke B who scored 2 excellent points after coming on as a sub.
It was great to get the win and dust off the cobwebs but Donegal this weekend is another big test. We cant be going 15 minutes without a score again....
The Hurlers impressed me tbh. A double scores win over Davy Fitz's Antrim team. Again, 7 different scorers. I thought Cian O'S and Conal O'R had very good games with 13pts and 1-03 respectively. Chris led from the back. He is a super player.
With the Na Fianna contingent to come into the team inc Conor McH who has now switched from Dublin Footballers to Dublin Hurlers, Also, Paddy Smyth, Danny Sutcliffe & Ronan Hayes to come back in. Next up on 9th Feb. Dublin away to Westmeath in Mullingar, and with Niall O'C now in charge, there is plenty of optimism about at the moment.
All in all, 3 very new look Dublin teams on display last weekend. A very interesting season ahead for the Dubs. Hope springs eternal. .

You couldn't ask for better, hope he gets the chance to lift some tin, be a great thing to witness, and much deserved experience for him
I have a nice large colour print framed photo of Jamsie lifting Sam here in the office.
There will never not be a time when glancing at that doesn't help to cheer me up

A totally deserved win for Donegal last night… Early days but Dublin seems to be struggling a bit with some of these new rules… Their forwards look weak at this stage but Con and Costello will help in that department… Just one 2pt score must be the lowest return from any team over the 4 divisions who have 2 matches played.. Donegal look strong
