Replying To Fionn:  "https://www.rte.ie/sport/football/2025/0110/1490040-continuing-financial-woes-sees-parnells-liquidated/

Talk about mis-management.
A very sad day for Dublin GAA.
Shocking state of affairs tbh.

There is a lot of anger about how this has happened to Parnells.

Hopefully lessons learned for other clubs around the country, but what the hell were they thinking, or not thinking as the case may be....."
A huge amount of money in the hands of people who hadn't a clue Fionn… They thought they were Man Utd or City and could buy success … a harsh lesson for the area..!

Replying To WanPintWin:  "The black card and forward mark aren't part of the new proposals, so they're for another debate. One I agree on by the way is getting rid of the forward mark. The black card has actually been somewhat successful. It has prevented some cynical fouling. Murchan's goal against Kerry in the All-Ireland final being an obvious one. He would have been rugby tackled by David Moran under the old rules. But it was early in the 2nd half and Moran obviously didn't want to miss the rest of the game.

Anyway on the new rules, nobody's asking you to agree with them. Just give them a chance to see how they impact the game and how they develop. The first few weeks will definitely be messy, for players, refs and supporters, but we'll be able to assess properly after a couple of months of league football.

There will be some which won't work. That's inevitable. Others like the 3-up and solo-and-go, could have a positive impact I think. Only way to know for sure is to try them out and that's what we'll be doing."
The forward mark has been revised and is now totally ridiculous. You now get to call your mark, play on and take your shot and if you miss you get a free uncontested kick at goal. How does this make any sense.

Unfortunately I don't think Parnells will be the only club.

Pay a visit to the grounds and you will have a good idea. It was never a financially viable concern. Very sad to see but entirely predictable. Thankfully most other clubs in Dublin are well run.

There's a few former inter county lads - not Dubs - who might assist with inquiry ...

Sad to see it endctgis way. I saw report that club as playing entity might disappear. Hopefully that not be the case. Great history going back over 100 years. As name indicates.

I know what I would be doing if I was Chairman of Dublin County Board with those facilities available at a fraction of the cost..... Waste not, want not....

Buy another place to train while continuing to use the 'national stadium' for games?

Hopefully it doesn't all end up in another green part of Dublin falling into hands of high ríse "developers. "

Marists might have better duty of care than Parnells.

So now you can get 2 goes at having a shot at goal after gaining possession…! What has the game descended to… I always said the forward mark was a disaster in its original form as it just slowed the game down but now it's just farcical… FRC should take a long look at themselves

Well first of all the player must now be inside the 20m line rather than the 45m line so there will hopefully be less marks.
And with no jeopardy in playing on, that is he can go back for the mark if he misses this Will probably result in less marks being kicked also.
The rules in general are in favour of forwards.
Also the each new rule can be reviewed and amended/discarded after the league, so let's see.

Again the FRC did not put the rules in place, that was done by Central Council delegates, County board delegates and all the way down to club members who voted them in.

Tough victory for Cuala this evening.0-14 to 0-09
Up by only 2pts and playing with only 14 men, in the closing stages.

Great credit due to Sligo's Coolera/Strandhill, who put in an excellent performance and never gave up.

Both teams finished with 7 scorers but the O'Callaghan brothers finished up with 8pts between them, and Man of the Match Con with 5pts.

Delighted to see Cuala, Fitzy & Con make the All Ireland SFC Club Final.

The Canavan brothers put on some performance in the other Semi Final earlier today, scoring 1-13 between in a 2-18 to 1-18 scoreline aet.

Should be a cracking Final in Croke Park next weekend.

In fact, both finals should be excellent - hopefully....!

The FRC came up with all these new rules ( most of them nonsensical ) and will carry the can when they completely mess up our game…

So, for example, Cavan county board delegate to the Central Council voted for the rules without any thought/responsibility for the consequences???

I think it's not that simple… the game had been ruined that much by well paid spoof coaches that the top dogs in the GAA saw the dramatic drop in revenue from paltry attendances and set up the FRC to try and rectify things…. The problem is they have gone too far and are now rushing through ridiculous rules that your right… county board delegates did not consider the impact or consequences especially at club level… The FRC put no emphasis on the impact these changes will have on referees and players at low club level…they came up with changes as if every game was a county game with several officials helping out the ref…. The clammer for change from the top blindsided county boards who by and large have little or no interest in what goes on at club level…and so voted all the FRC changes trough.. I am wiling to give it a chance ( no choice ) but I see huge trouble ahead for our once great game.. I'd say the FRC were aghast with how good the Errigal/Crokes game was today under the old rules…
