Replying To Dheen:  "To add to that list, Dean Ennis Delvin, McCauley, Moore and Mark Cunningham Ringtown, David Aughey Turin, Eoin Daly, Marcus Kennedy and Darragh Qamar, Eoghan Ahearn, Gary Greville and David Hickey Raharney, David Maloney, Naoise McKenna, Peter Murphy, Jack Gallagher CTG, Diarmuid and Johnny Martin Southern Gaels. Probably plenty more I'm missing. I think it's a great initiative, and keep the whole thing open and freshened up. How do we think they'll create the divisional teams?
It seems the divisional competition will be ran before Christmas with the best 15 of that competition going up against the current county team sometime in January. Most likely in Cusack Park"
No problem with any of those. Its good that there are so many potential players out there. The 3 finals and next saturday might show us a few more.

Is a divisional team not supposed to be a team made up of players in a close proximity of each other therefore a Castletown player wouldn't be on the same team as a player from delvin or brownstown. Also if the likes of Niall o brien showed interest in this he wouldn't be on a divisional team he would be on the county team regardless of him stepping away from the panel last year

Yeah but once the divisional competition is over they will be picking the best players from that competition to play the county team. The first team I posted there is a team that could potentially make it up. Your probably right regarding Niall O'Brien however.

Ideally but lets not split hairs. We are hardly Cork.
The idea is a good one and I am sure they not us,will manage it well.
I agree the likes of O Brien only a year away would be on county team, but again lets not worry too much about the fine points but let them at it.
The county team needs to be shook up especially from midfield up with pacey players badly needed

That is true a lot will depend on interest levels among players as well nice to see a fresh approach all the same

No Westmeath players on Ireland team to play Scotland in the shinty. I heard Jogger and Williams were on it but with the Gaels getting to final that's ruled them out as mat h same weekend. Strong Offaly contingent on it and Laois man as captain.

Congratulations to Killian Doyle for being selected at centre forward on the Joe Mcdonagh team of the year. He finished top scorer also. Great achievement for him considering the underperforming campaign we had. Hopefully next year we will have a fair few Westmeath lads on it!
Interested to see how this regional competition is going to be ran now once the county finals are over.

The combined clubs r regional competition is a good idea in theory, but it sorta suits the big counties more, I'm just wondering in a small hurling pick like us how much interest there will be from lads who haven't been picked for the county before now, a good club player sorta knows themselves if their fit for county level or not.

Josh Coll also deserves a chance again, didn't get a fair chance last time I think. Great potential.

That's a bit harsh considering he's been away and then also injured this for a good chunk of this season. He's well capable of turning it on against Fr Daltons in the final and winning it for Delvin. He's still young.

Well back in the day there used to be a phrase used … "mol an oige, agus tiocfaidh siad". You might prefer straight criticism. Perhaps the reason he didn't reach potential is because he hasn't had the chance. Why don't you throw out a few ideas about how to bring in young players….development squad or very large panel or whatever approach you like but players from Senior B getting opportunity to play with the Senior A players more frequently is essential. You have to bring young players on and that's all I'm saying. The commitment is huge for them when in the county setup and they have to see a way forward and I just think he deserves a chance.

He's a fantastic talent on his day, I remember seeing him score two goals vs Laois in u20 worth the admission fee alone. Then seen him hitting 5 points from play vs Cork down in Pairc Ui Caoimh when he was 19. We have to be giving these young players a proper chance now and that's why Bulfin is bringing in this regional competition, we need to keep things fresh. I commend him for this initiative and hopefully it works out.

Agreed but if you are a sub on a senior B team you are hardly going to make a county panel.Let us look at the Senior B final Saturday week and see what players might be county candidates.
To make it in elite sport its not just talent that is needed but ambition and dedication. Many talented youngsters just dont have thse qualities and find other interests.

Well hopefully he will be fit for the final.I saw a couple of Delvin's games and to me Daragh Clinton and Adam Ennis were excellent but didnt see anyone else at that level. But the final is the game to shine in.
