Cavan missed out on promotion by missing their 2 point shot but Louth would still have been safe from the drop…

Excellent performance by the U 20s last night DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 938 - 27/03/2025 11:36:52 2598880 Link 0 |
What a week for the Wee County. I'm still celebrating Louths victory over our lovely neighbours. I was not expecting that. The Bull is def red and white all this week. Ollie2 (Louth) - Posts: 1013 - 29/03/2025 11:07:55 2599192 Link 0 |
Does anyone know the venue for our Champ match if we are playing Laois or Wexford? DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 938 - 31/03/2025 11:47:30 2599656 Link 0 |
It's in Carlow if we are playing Wexford and it's in Newbridge if we are playing Laois.

Newbridge is shorter but Carlow might be better.

I would prefer Newbridge myself to see what the new ground is like. There is talk of the Leinster semi finals not been played in Croke Park this year.

Yep somewhat of a setback however we demonstrated against Meath how potent we can be without our reliables.

Very true, pith for Sam personally as I felt he wasn't at his best last year apart from his frees but has been excellent this season

Totally agree he showed his true leadership when mattered for example when we got the better of Down and how crucial that turned out to be in the end.

That's a big blow that Sam Mulroy is out for a while but wee showed against Meath that we can cope without him. In 2020 in the Championship against Longford he scored all of Louths 1-07 in a match that we lost. Who do you fancy tomorrow between Wexford and Laois? I fancy Wexford to sneak the win. If that's the case we will play them in Carlow on Sunday week. Ollie2 (Louth) - Posts: 1013 - 04/04/2025 12:42:37 2600518 Link 0 |
Venue for Laois match is as close to a home match for Laois as they could get without being in the county. What's the Leinster council thinking with that decision ? Headtheball1 (Louth) - Posts: 75 - 06/04/2025 17:54:43 2600785 Link 0 |
It's on in Newbridge

I was disappointed with Wexford. I thought with home advantage it would be alot closer. Laois up next in Newbridge. Our first Championship match there since 2013 if my memory serves me right when Kildare beat us the qualifiers. In the early 1990s there was a bit of rivalry between Louth and Laois. They played four times in three seasons. Who could forget the big brawl in Croke Park in when Laois beat us in the Leinster semi-final after a replay. Louth should of won the first match. They lost six Leinster semi-finals in the 1990s. In 1992 Louth got their revenge when they beat Laois by a point in Croke Park. In 1993 Laois beat Louth well down in Portlaoise.

Should be interesting ok against Laois in the new Newbridge. Alot of big games on this weekend in Leinster, only Dublin game a dead rubber. ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 742 - 09/04/2025 13:27:17 2601228 Link 0 |
I'm hoping after Meath display that we will be too much for Laois. Looking forward to Sunday, always enjoy a championship game in a provisional town. All round you have to say Louth football is in a good place, the minors and U20s winning their group games easily and we have brought a few into senior panel from last years excellent U20 team. Great win today for our great Louth team, been an interesting League and Championship so far, stayed up in Division 2, no easy feat, now in a Leinster Semi final with Kildare likely in Navan. Could go either way. Subs and last quarter was brilliant, we keep doing that we could be Leinster champions.....An Lu Abu. ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 742 - 13/04/2025 19:40:14 2601725 Link 0 |
