Sorry lads it must have been his twin brother who has the exact same name that scored a goal in Kilcars win in the SFC last year.

Bad times when a Monaghan man knows more about Donegal football than 2 Donegal heads.

Did you hear the new Kilcar manager has walked after just a week?

Must be a record? Particularly in pre season.

he was home for about 3 weeks in the summer and maybe 10 days at Christmas, I think Jim wants a bit more commitment than that to be honest !

Replying To Commodore:  "Unfortunately I can't see Donegal wanting to contest a league final 6-7 days before we face Derry in the Ulster Championship preliminary round, due to the condensed nature of the calendar, it would be a unwelcome distraction.

League Rd 7 - Mayo (A) - 22nd/23rd March
League Final - 29th/30th March
Ulster Prelim rd - Derry - 5th - 6th April.

League final is probably more ideal target for maybe Kerry or Dublin, who won't likely face any Division 1 level teams until a month or so after the league final. Donegal have Derry the following week, its just not feasible to target winning the league when in the Preliminary round of Ulster."
That's a tough schedule with matches for five consecutive week ends.. a break followed by three more consecutive week ends of round 6 &7 and Ulster prelim . Which one of the remaining four matches will you be targeting to ensure 8 points and safety ? (90% safe already)
Sunday forecasted to be very wet with gales. Could there be a case made for Tuam on Saturday ?

Replying To Scenicparish:  "I certainly wouldn't be moving Mc Gonagle from centre half back. Hugh won't be good enough midfield in the Championship. We certainly need Langan in midfield. Jason will be required after May as well."
Yeah we obviously don't want to be moving Caolan from CHB but if needs must then it might not be a bad idea to try someone new in there in case Caolan gets injured. EBG or Daire might do a job there possibly. If we are to test things out we will see it over the next few games.

Yeah its a tight schedule, so you can understand why making a Division 1 final isn't desirable for Donegal.

I think they will target to win every one of the remaining games, we can now afford to try out more squad players, and there are quite a few quality players itching for game time. Also a chance to experiment tactically for periods of each game, see how certain scenarios work against top level competition, basically road test things ahead of Championship.

Looking at the remaining schedule, I can't see Jim purposely wanting us to lose a game, they won't want that and that has never been something he would do.

Also, I'm hearing Roscommon are gearing up for a proper tilt at the All Ireland this year, that they are finding the new rules seem to work for them so far and are thinking they could shock a few teams.

I didn't see Roscommon v Monaghan, but you were impressive against Down, its interesting that the rules could see a team make a big improvement.

another strong squad named today. fantastic players on the bench. it will be a tough game but a draw wouldn't be a bad result worst case scenario. obviously a win is the objective. best of luck lads

A draw would be an unbelievable result away to Galway especially without Langan, McGee, Roarty and not starting EBG, Ryan McHugh, Thompson, Shane and Niall O Donnell. Murphy isn't named on the panel as well. That might change yet. If we can get a result against Galway without 8 or 9 of our regular starters that would be hugely impressive. Good that some of the other lads are getting game time anyway. They will all have big parts to play this year.

Hmm Ye threw away an All Ireland last year. Won today handy so how could we be " roaring hot favourites for Sam"?

Fair play to Galway, much the better team, Shane Walsh a class act, kicked some fine scores. Good reality check for some people that were getting carried away after last week's results. One thing that would be worrying is our midfield, only looked half decent when Thompsom came on. Hopefully McGee and Langan are not long term injuries. Some of our squad players not good, Eoin McHugh, Charles McGuinness, Domhnall MacGiolla Bhride not up to the standard at all. No idea how Eoghan McGettigan doesnt get a run, when fit, a very good forward. Couldn't have done much worse than what was on show. Jim probably not too bothered with the result considering the team he fielded.

Player of the year Conroy or centre half back Daly not playing today? Played 45 minutes with 14 men, 20 of those with 13 men.
