Clonguish will be the big winners Carrickedmond wins their appeal. It's a long drawn out process for Kenagh Mostrim and Slashers as they are focusing on their survival battle B&G (Longford) - Posts: 362 - 18/09/2024 11:34:19 2570538 Link 1 |
Are any of the teams knocked out still training? It's all a farce and potentially a national embarrassment for the Longford Co board. The weekend games should never have been played after Carrick Leinster hearing Saturday morning. maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 211 - 18/09/2024 11:59:55 2570546 Link 0 |
That was really the big mistake that the Co Board made on Saturday ..... rushing into the QFs when the Carrick appeal was upheld. Complete ignorance of the process and a very ballsy move which now has backfired. Carrick will get their qtr final now I'd say. And the draw will start again. My bet is we'll still get the Co Final played off before the first round of Leinster. backtoback2 (Longford) - Posts: 42 - 18/09/2024 12:12:28 2570548 Link 0 |
The county final will be held on Stephens Day at this rate. eslinchickenmaryland (Leitrim) - Posts: 274 - 18/09/2024 12:13:48 2570551 Link 0 |
I'd imagine that Dromard are as I believe they have to replay their league match against Slashers. If Granard are lodging an objection against James McGivney then I'd imagine that they are going some training. With the ongoing uncertainty I'd imagine that both Clonguish and Rathcline are focusing on last chance saloon. Wouldn't it be ironic if Clonguish won it now having lost 3 championship matches this season. B&G (Longford) - Posts: 362 - 18/09/2024 12:16:42 2570552 Link 0 |

Why would we be the big winners out of this? Surely you me us, Granard, Rathcline and Carrickedmond would be the big winners?!!!

Carrick failed on 9 out of 10 points they had before the Leinster hearings committee, the only one they won on was that someone who sat on the Longford CCCC shouldn't have been on it. That's it in a nutshell, didn't win on anything related to a replay or any wrong-doing by the county board bar what I said earlier. I wouldn't consider it a win like everyone is making it out to be.

There won't be a county final this year if teams are asked to play 1/4 finals again.

I can 100% tell you Clonguish are not preparing for anything other than an under 21 championship. They did not train last night and will not be training tonight. IF (and that's a big IF) we did get back in and go all the way, we would have only lost 2 games and not 3!! But if we did get back in, I can't see us getting near a final going by our performances overall this year in the championship. The newly formed CCCC is going to come to the same decision as the old CCCC. I don't know where these rumours of them leaning towards Carrick are coming from. Carrick will not win their case and will have to play Mostrim now in a tough relationship decider.

The County Board have not awarded that game to Slashers.

If right is right Clonguish don't make 1/4 finals if you go by the rules

That may be the case but those matches should never have gone ahead once the appeal is upheld. You're asking for trouble. An independent appeal process may look at what the county board are doing unfavourably and side with Carrick. They are looking like bullies the way they are ploughing ahead and forget everything else.

Agree. With most that that said mul can't be blamed at same time they were right to appeal result if they felt they won its why it was only found out at the end of match. And the process by county since that is a mess Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 513 - 18/09/2024 13:57:44 2570575 Link 0 |
Surely they could have pushed the quarter finals back a week and had it all sorted out before a ball was kicked. Seems madness that nearly three weeks since the game in question there is still so much uncertainty. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 325 - 18/09/2024 14:05:03 2570577 Link 0 |
Regardless of what ever out come this eventual mess does finish with it has showed us how bad our co board really are!! we are a laughing stock of the county with this situation doing the rounds on social media. Garmin (Longford) - Posts: 96 - 18/09/2024 14:22:02 2570580 Link 0 |
Yeah, I agree with you. I don't blame Mull for appealing the result at all. I know lots have been shouting for a replay of Mull, Carrick too but I wouldn't agree with that at all. Mull are the team lodging the appeal, they are the injured party. They were through to the q final regardless so how would a replay be a fair result for them. You can't blame Carrick for appealing either, I think any other club would too. The county board should have just let play the whole appeal process play out and determine if the game ended a draw or mull won by a point. End of story then. They have made things far worse by ploughing on ahead with the q/finals. It beggars belief that someone in the county board didn't shout STOP and say lads this could backfire on us. We better hold out until the process is over. The James Mcgivney thing sounds like it could be a right mess too.
