Replying To IronSleeve:  "That concept is a good one but not sure there'd be the appetite for another competition with that many teams. A lot of players have had enough by the end of the championship. However, a slimmer version would tick a lot of boxes. 3 or 4 regional teams along with the county senior champions playing for a regional championship, give it a distinct identity, say the Packie McGarty Cup. It'd give a lot of players a chance to play at a higher level, it'd a be a series of mini county trials and it'd bridge the gap for the county champions going into the Connacht Club."
The Packie McGarty Cup, hmmm. You might be on to something there. Might I suggest an alteration however. The three teams could be the senior champions, an amalgamation representing all the first teams in Intermediate, and another representing all the first teams in Junior A and below. The Intermediate and Junior teams would play in a semifinal, and the Senior champions would play the winners in the final. They wouldn't want to lose, the amalgamated team would want to win, and the senior champions would get a competitive game before Connacht.

2 good ideas... get them in front of your club to discuss at the next county convention.

Don't think amalgamated teams would work tbh. They tried it in Roscommon and it was a complete shambles. Although we could probably organise it better as we aren't as divided as a county.

Yeah. Something like that could be a runner. SFC Champs might need more than 1 game before Connacht though but the intermediate and junior team combo idea is interesting.

Gavin Reynolds - St Marys
Conor Hackett - St Marys
Jack Rowley - Mohill
Colm McLoughlin - Fenagh
Fergal McLoughlin - Fenagh
Caillan Ororuke - Fenagh

You'd be hoping Paul Keaney, Radek Oberwan and Ryan O Rourke would go back into the county panel along with a few others and if Jack Heslin can get back to full health next year.

Well Poacher won't be seeing them as he is still managing at club level in the Louth SFC with St. Mochtas.

Does anyone know of any other county manager still also managing another club??

So who is out watching and scouting our championship and club games?
It's madness…..

That's messed up. I didn't believe you and looked it up for myself.
At least his club is doing well!

Vast majority of intercounty mangers are either coaching/mangers/selectors of club teams. I personally don't think it's an issue if it doesn't get in the way of the intercounty team they are over.

A lot of people like Mickey it seems. He must be good at what he does.
