Well it's true. Poachers job now

I think Declan Bonner would be a great appointment for Leitrim, vast experience and great at motivating young players. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3046 - 24/10/2024 14:14:43 2576718 Link 0 |
Never ever diss Mikey Graham! Have you ever seen Irish martial arts film Fatal Deviation? It stars Mikey Graham "from the Rock Group Boy Zone" as it describes him in the opening credits. He's easily the best actor in it.

My only fear is that if he does decide to move up, he won't be replaced by someone as capable. Time for a few younger souls to step up and particularly from the larger clubs in the county.

The job is gone to Poacher. I think it's a bad move

True. 1995 was the year that got away. I've never been as disappointed before or since that first round loss to Galway. That team had improved a fair bit since the previous year.

Are the Enda Stenson and Gary Reynolds interviews with Off the Ball available anywhere? I mean I think I found them on Spotify but you gotta subscribe or something. Dunno if that's free.

So do I... must have sold a good story and backroom team. And wasn't he involved with Carlow when they got promoted to Div 3? I don't ever think we should be looking too far away from home as any manager will have to put more hours into Leitrim than most other counties (given a tightly resourced backroom team etc).

Poacher comes across as very knowledgeable and might be the right man at the right time given the big tactical changes that will be required https://youtu.be/L5PKIR5OMIs?si=is-mbs8_JWIBJovq Keephimthere (Roscommon) - Posts: 105 - 25/10/2024 08:16:19 2576803 Link 1 |
I wouldn't be 100% sure on that.

Twas only a joke square. Graham was probably the most capable candidate at the time. But the job should have been put up for application though. Then we could see who else was available and see really how interested Graham was. There were other quality managers available at the time such as Mike Solan, Mikey Harte, James Horan etc. Now none of these may have even applied but we should've had all options on the table before rowing in behind Mickey Graham. What was your thoughts on MG jumping ship to Galway so soon after taking the job? You were calling for Moran to be sacked all year and that Mikey Graham was our man. I thought the same to be fair but didn't express it as much on here as yourself. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 25/10/2024 09:07:04 2576808 Link 0 |
I don't think we know the full facts of MG jumping ship but the optics do not look great unfortunately from his and Galway standpoint. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1632 - 25/10/2024 12:19:09 2576852 Link 0 |
Galway chairman quoted as saying they didn't approach Graham while he was in charge of Leitrim boxtyburgerbuns (Leitrim) - Posts: 24 - 25/10/2024 12:37:21 2576859 Link 0 |
he would say that i suppose. i think we need to move. and focus on who we can get in, MG isn't fro leitrim and can go where he wants at the end of the day. lets get someone in that deserves the job and someone our players can learn from.

I think the fact that he was in charge and lift has massively reduced the pool of capable applicants. Any quality manager wouldn't want to go near us now. Our own county board failed us by not putting the job up for application.

Are you at all surprised? He was never going to say anything else

One has to take the statement at face value
