I see the teams for this weekends Railway cup are in with Keith Beirne on the bench. I'm surprised to see him taking part when he still has a Connacht club championship to play.

Replying To timeforachange: "That was some weekend of good football in Leitrim. I got to all three finals and here's my take on affairs.
Senior Final - Mohill shaded proceedings. In general they are a better all round team than SOH. SOH have some decent players but Mohill are battle hardened and their ability to control the tempo of the game was way ahead of SOH. They gifted the turnover for Priors Goal - reminded of Kerry v Dublin in 2011 - Kerry far ahead of the Dubs but they messed about and let McMenamin in. Prior was brilliant and Jordan Reynolds looked back to his best. Shane and Conor Quinn were really good and Flynn was a deserved MOTM. McGirl did a fine job on the whistle
Junior Final - Bors the better side by a stretch. Eslin as usual relying on their "generational talents" to keep them in it. Bors will find the going tough at inter next season with three coming down. Some good players but they need everyone fit(ter) and firing. Moran still the standout and the Mulligan brothers good workers. Conroy is getting on. McMorrow was solid on the whistle.
Inter Final - Unbelievable finish for right and wrong reasons. Allen Gaels will never get over this I feel. Incredible way to lose a match. They emptied the bench and were saluting the crowd coming off - that says something about the mentality in the group. They were way the better side - by a long shot. Credit to Kinlough for sticking at it but that's where the credit stops. They were an absolute disgrace the way they conducted themselves both on and off the pitch. They clearly set out to intimidate the ref and the hysteria they whipped up was unbecoming. The scenes at the end of the game were scarcely believable and a shameful day for football in our county. The bloke responsible for flooring the official should never be seen along the line in Leitrim again - his comments in the media after were abhorrent also. Dolan did very well considering the atmosphere. Lets hope the CCC act accordingly and dish out the necessary bans. Melvin Gales will come straight back down next season." "Melvin Gaels will come straight back down next season". Just like we will never get out of intermediate

Replying To Square_B: "That is shocking. What in God's name were they at?!" I watched it. With 27 mins gone and 8 points up it's completely natural to give a few subs a run out. If they had won by 10 and used no subs there would be an outcry also and fellas that trained all year would leave the panel cos they didn't get a few minutes. Even the commentator had no hope for Melvin as he said after the first goal if that had come 10 mins earlier it would have made an interesting finish. Allen Gaels basically had 3 attacks and scored 3 goals and it's the players on the pitch at that time that must shoulder the responsibility. There was no marking nor any kind of a defence. It was the equivalent of National School Mini sevens played in a Intermediate Co Final

You've give out to u14's if they lost a game like that in 6 minutes. Kinda shows a level of cockiness on AG's part and for that they deserved to loose. Sums up the attidute of some clubs in the county at the minute.... all fur coat no knickers.

Idk what happen for the last goal not sure how Clancy got to the ball first with three AG lads around him. Although Clancy should of seen the line for his tackle 2 minutes before that.

That's an amazing stat that Bornacoola hadn't won a championship with their first team since 1957. I'm guessing that before they decoupled league and championship in the early noughties (i.e. senior championship teams were all Div 1 teams too, and so on down the line, relegation was league-based, and promotion was via league and by winning a championship), they would have gone up and down the divisions through the league, and after league and championship were separated, they only got promoted due to championship reorganisations.
But apparently it was the longest wait for a championship with a first team in the whole county. Even St Osnett's won one since then. I wonder for each club, what's the year they last won a championship with their first team?

Anyway. Still no white smoke regarding the managers position.
Rumours that O'Hara is in line for the role is concerning after his behaviour last weekend and throughout the championship.
Hopefully James Mannion will be kept on with the U20s and Kevin Stritch will be with the U17s again as they brought some top level coaching to both teams last year which our own coaches could then learn off.
How James Glancy hasn't been reintegrated somehow into his position with the county board is both telling and bewildering. He might rub people up the wrong way but theres no doubt the structures he was trying to implement at underage level and his focus on coaching workshops was having an effect before he stepped away. He would also be a good inclusion as a coach for our U20s/U17s. Same goes for Shane Ward.

Leitrim doesn't need a shrinking violet or someone with the excuses lined up as to why we fail and fail again. It's safe to say O' Hara can never be accused of being either. He may rub people up the wrong way but maybe it's born out of frustration with incompetence. In any event, if the mooted proposals regarding dissent are adopted then he'll have to adapt.

Looked into it there I think it's now drumkeeran first team that's has gone the longest without a championship title 40 years. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Came across a video of mr Stenson suggesting Colm o rourke should come back and give some of his expertise back to the county he was born in, surely we aren't that badly off. O Hara may be lacking discipline but back to back county titles is still an achievement not to be frowned upon, he certainly isn't lacking success in his managerial career so far and wouldn't be the worst choice in my opinion.
With regards to James Glancy he's undoubtedly one of the best coaches around. His u17 team cruised to victory last week against annaduff, they are a very balanced team with some excellent footballers and look extremely well coached. I would not be surprised if they have a good run in Connacht from what I seen last weekend. I heard at that game that he is also coaching Roscommon Gaels who are in the senior final this weekend for the first team in 5 years, which says enough. Definitely should be sought after to get him involved at Leitrim u17 next year after the fr manning win this year and see can it be built on.

McNulty played an absolute blinder for Connacht. Came on as a sub. Scored a goal, a cracking goal. Played like a player beyond his years, all the big names around him. He's only 19/20yrs?? Scored a cracker of a goal past cluxton. Scored a free. Set up Conor cox for a lovely point, set up the last Connacht goal with quick hands to put a ball across the goal line for a tap in. The guy was incredible.
What a talent he is, what a player for such a young age. Well done last night Barry.
Best player on the field in second half IMO

Shane Ward is taking the Leitrim Colleges A Team this year.
New minor management has been chosen and is subject to ratification. Will be a good appointment.
