Replying To Leitrim1234:  "Ridiculous for Leitrim to loose two managers in the space of 3 months in Andy Moran and Mickey Graham. Effects both the senior team and the U20s.

A side point but we really are struggling to produce top home grown coaches in Leitrim.

Does anyone actually know why Graham is leaving or is it all rumour? Clarity is needed.

Talk of players leaving but the only two that it is known are actually gone is Mark Plunkett and Pearce Dolan. Who else?

We should also have more then capable U20s being promoted to the panel to offshoot this.

Being blunt we are not going to get any of the top level coaches so we either need a young coach looking to break into the intercounty game or a manager who has shown well previously with clubs or a county team.

Reality is also that the new rules (that should suit Leitrim) will mean any style a play that manager previously had in the last few years will have to change so its hard to know who will be comfortable with the new game.

My list to talk to would include:
Des Dolan
Dom Connellan (Roscommon man previously over Moycullen)
Alan Flynn (a brilliant coach St Mary's just lack inside forwards - a problem Leitrim don't have)
Enda McGinley
Declan Bonner
Dom Corrigan
Karl Lacey
Paddy Bradley (Was with Donegal last year) - Would probably bring Mark McHugh with him?
Larr Wall
Ciaran Meenagh
Jodie Gormley (current Trillick manager)

Whoever it is it needs to be sorted asap.

Not having a full time Athletic Development coach who oversees Seniors, U20s and minors (no matter who the manager is) is a huge issue when we start chopping and changing managers. Are the players from last year senior/u20s currently on a S&C plan like they were this time last year? If not we are already behind regardless of who the new manager is."
Good post!

Slightly out. Colm left very young, dont think he even went to primary school here. However his brother played senior for Leitrim.

We have already had a manager in place and got us promoted to Division 3 which is a huge achievement and then he left. A manger leaving after gaining promotion is very rare. Why did he leave?? He left us and then took up a coaching role with another county!! Why leave us when he was manager and gained promotion??

Then we get a top class replacement confirmed as manager in Graham. He is in the role and left it after two months without getting a squad together or having a training session. Why did he leave??

The common question between Moran and Graham is - why did he leave?? Why?? Is it just coincidence or is there something rotten or that they have seen or stumbled across that is unworkable in Leitrim football??

Moran got us promoted and left to take up a job as a coach with Monaghan, Graham left before he had a training session. The optics look very bad."
I remember reading that Moran wanted another 3 year term but County board were offering 1?

Most of you on this forum were delighted that Moran was gone. Ye couldn't wait to get him out the gap. Ye kept bringing up that he would always be remembered for losing to New York. That would be his legacy. Obviously Moran and the Co Board could not agree another year so he left. Graham was the obvious choice and as he was working with Moran for the past year he knew both the players and the Co Board officers. Obviously something has cropped up that he can't commit anymore. Move on......

They left cos no one wants a relegation on their CV. Leitrim odds on for relegation from Div 3 2025

Well I know why Moran left. He left because getting us promoted was one of the biggest flukes to happen in the gaa in the last few years. Longford and Carlow beat us. We robbed Wexford with one of the softest penalties ever given. We bet a Laois team that we're more or less in the final. We were shocking in the league final and worse in the first round of the championship. He leaves Leitrim in Div 3 a cute move. I can't see us win one game in division 3 next year and I'd say Andy felt the same. I don't know why Graham took the job to leave it two months later.

Very simple…quit while you're ahead or go out on a high. Your lot as a manager is held in higher esteem as a manager who got someone promoted than someone who got a team promoted and then relegated again.

To be fair to Leitrim they will be raging favourites for the drop straight back to Division 4 next year so I'd imagine Andy cashed in knowing that promotion was a huge bonus given how the rest of the year went. Clearly some of the players are thinking the same if so many of them are walking away and if Graham feels he's not getting the outfit he was expecting to have then he's right to pull away than be associated with a potentially chaotic year that would blot his fairly good record so far.

O'Hara is someone who I think who'd have the interest in it as it's no secret he'd love to manage Sligo but the jury is still out on him. Will he risk his shot at Sligo by going with Leitrim if it turns out to be a rough year in 2025?

Hole in one. And after the all the chat about Moran has probably left us in worse shape then had he secured promotion in his first year. Anyhow we have to move on and appoint someone fast.

I wasn't at the game last week. I was driving through Ballinamore though, and before I got there I realised "Jaysus, Ballinamore is where the game is! I'll never get through." But I did, driving right past the grounds at 2.00. I know they've done a lot of work with the place lately, so what way is parking there and how was it in the past?

The provincial championship draw might help entice a decent candidate, with Leitrim straight into the semi final v Mayo. I think a county native has to be the best option at this late stage. Outside managers are one of 2 kinds, a potential top notch coach hoping to move on to a team in contention for top honours as per Andy. The gamble for such a candidate is great, if the players do not intend to give it everything. As has been posted, Andy did well to get promotion and decided to cut and run. The second kind is the journey man manager in it for the few Bob and the not inconsiderable publicity that goes with the job. And of course apart from the late John O Mahony outside managers have little success. Stay local for this season.

An astounding confession. Drove past the county final to buy cheap toilet paper in Mullan market!!!!

Really enjoyable game today but why not just play a third game? Can understand you're pressed for time usually during a season but Mohill don't have a game now for 5 weeks

Mickey Graham already has 2 if not 3 relegations with Cavan so your point makes no sense
