Replying To Towny10:  "Just wondering if we should go with a different approach next game out. Thinking if we played Doyle at full forward and play high balls into him and have Carroll and Connor Hand picking up the breaking ball with the pace them two have. Play more direct and see if it works. Thoughts?"
Might not be much point playing Keith Doyle full forward if it decreases our ability to win ball around midfield which is our main problem area. However when we have the ball around the middle it might make sense for Keith or Enda to drift in the odd time when the opposition are defending the D.
Conor Hand when playing, tends to be more effective out the field and breaking/attacking at pace. (breaking the defensive line). Both Keith and Conor played very well in the early league matches but did not make the same impact when playing/coming on in the more recent matches. A lot for the management to consider.
A lot will depend on what team we are playing and what the game plan will be. We have to be far more aggressive all over the pitch for starters.

We were so poor last Sunday ( and in many of our League games) that it's hard to know where to start. I did a post wondering about the mood in the camp amongst the players but the post was blocked. I would be interested to know how the players feel about the championship season going forward and about the draw next Wednesday . Do they think we can recover from Salthill or will this Summer just be a write off. At least we start next year in Division one after the most fortuitous of promotions.

Did you honestly expect a post like that to get past the mods. Asking players mid way through a season what their thoughts were? Anyone not getting game time will certainly be unhappy

Not sure about fortuitous. As I said before Roscommon finished up with a point more than those below them Meath,Cork,Cavan and do you think any of that trio deserved more than the 8 points they got? in the end the big win against Cork in round 5 was enough for promotion for Roscommon.

Roscommon got deserved wins against Down,Monaghan,Cork,Louth and drew with Westmeath and would have been a deserved win had at least 3-6 wasn't left behind you in that game.

Aim for Roscommon players and management I'm sure is to reach the knock out stages of the championship regardless of what group are placed in this Wednesday. Last year reached the last 8 of the championship for the first time since 2019. This year if can reach the last 8 again it will be first time to reach last 8 in consecutive years since also 2017 to 2019. Promotion back to Div 1 along with reaching All Ireland Quarter final can be marked down as a good year if achieved the and latter won't be easy as plenty of teams will be pushing hard to reach it.

I was more interested in the views of players getting game time. Something isn't right with Roscommon with the way they're playing.

I'd agree that we need Doyle at midfield while it might be worth trying something different with Enda like putting him in up top. The change might revitalise him as he's not getting joy at the moment further out. I think too much on his shoulders to be creative and he's also In a position that he needs to be up and down the field to attack and defend.

Enda didn't need to be flogged so much during the League.
He was playing for Boyle in the League this weekend, as we're all their County men.

Meath beat the Dubs, Cork nearly beat Kerry, Monaghan brought Donegal close. Roscommon miles off that level of performance.

Especially with the level of work that middle 8 need to do with the new rules. I know he's older than Enda and coming back from retirement but look at how McGuinness has minded Murphy.
Back to clubs might do them no harm. Cody used to make sure the Kilkenny boys went back playing for their club during championship.

Nearly never bullied the cow and fair play to Meath to today or be against a fading force in Dublin. The rossies will be judged in the All Ireland series everyone knows what they showed last Sunday wasn't good enough made it all too easy for Galway.

Thanks to Meath winning today we won't have Dublin in Croke Park for the 3rd year in a row in a round 1 group match. We also played them in the group stage in Croke Park 2018,19.

Instead on Wednesdays draw round 1 will be against one of the following.

Louth (where ever is chosen as a home game)
Meath (Navan)
Kerry (Fitzgerald stadium)
Galway (Pearse Staduim)
Mayo (in MacHale Park)
Armagh (Athletic grounds
Donegal (Ballybofey)

Round 2 in Hyde Park

Clare, Louth or Meath Mayo or Galway Armagh or Donegal

Round 3 in neutral venue against one of Cavan,Cork, Down or Derry

That is some consolation, between the round Robin and the super 8s it was a pain in the backside getting them in Croker every time.
