Made hard work of it with running the squad out. Good sign we kicked on when Leitrim levels near the end. Cant comment much more as didnt attend or see the game. But saw some highlights and its really not good enough to have a county match on a pitch in bits. Was a disgrace more muck than grass. Id be embarrassed to have a home county team train on that ground never mind play a home championship game.

Four week break now until the Connacht Final I can imagine one or two hard challenges will be played before them. Mayo winner against Sligo tonight so it will be them or Galway we'll face in the final. Well done to all the players and management."
It was hardly a gamble, they were already in the final and those lads that played last night were as deserving of a game as any of the rest. Well done to all involved on a great campaign so far, hopefully a sign of things to come!

The gamble was to lose and lose badly as has happened to many teams that has made that amount of change to a starting team and we went up against a team who's need was greater on their home patch. Most certainly well done to all involved and special praise to the lads that got their first minutes last night and acquitted themselves well.

This day next week will know a lot more about our management and team. We won't be able to say we are waiting for championship to produce our best. In reality Davy wants a connacht title and that's his Target. Id actually say he would prefer a connacht title that a quarter final. We are well capable of beating Galway if we get our selves right. During the league and even against London I just don't see what our game is or plan tin defense and attack. Id be lying if I said I wasn't worried about Sunday. We all know our lads can get themselves up for 1 game usually and it's like we put everything into that one game. I'm sure we will play with more intensity and purpose Sunday and please God get a result and then have a Crack at mayo in the hyde. Anyone have starting 15 preferences

If the Mayo game happens it will be in feckin Castlebar.
I'd love a Connacht title AND get past the Quarter Finals but not really expecting either.

Prove me wrong pleeeease lads!

Would you not prefer a Connacht title than a quarter final spot ?

If Ros win, would a Connacht Final against Mayo( who will beat Leitrim) not be in McHale Park rather than in Hyde Park. We played and lost twice to Mayo in The Hyde last year in the championship. It's looking ahead but Roscommon haven't beaten Mayo in a Connacht Final in Castlebar since 1979. I don't know Roscommon's best starting 15 for Sunday. I hope Davy Burke does. I'd like to see Brian Stack back and we need him but is he fit. Galway's League form, like Roscommon's, was up and down. Hard to call this match.

Going on current form Roscommon are probably looking at Prelim round last 12 exit of the championship then again I said the same last year and Roscommon ended up reaching the last 8.

It's fairly simple. We've problems at the back and in goals with erratic kick outs. Keep doing the same thing's in these areas and we ain't going anywhere.

Pearse Stadium is a real venue for two pointers so will come down to that and general shooting efficiency.

Roscommon against Monaghan in the recent league final only scored 18 times from 31 shots amount of shots as Monaghan. Hard to know with the rossies as aren't consistent on shooting from game to game meanwhile Galway regularly hit 60% or over in shooting efficiency under Joyce.

We are mad outsiders for Sunday and justifiably so.
We need a level of performance not seen for many a day, a level of shooting accuracy seldom achieved and for most things to go right for us on the day.
Then we'll have a chance.

To have any hope on Sunday Roscommon will have to get the ball to the forwards very quickly when they have possession and the forwards will have to be more direct in their approach. Playing around in circles in front of the Galway defenders will lead nowhere. Galway have some very good backs who will attack at pace once we get turned over. On the bright side Galway themselves are prone to the slow passing game up front. Hope the wind stays fairly calm as too many games in Salthill are ruined either by wind or rain. Best of luck to players and management

Roscommon are 4/1 outsiders for Sunday. I knew we'd be underdogs but those are very long odds. I feel that Roscommon's season turns on the Galway game. If we lose, I'd expect a short Summer. A win would really energise the team and set us up for a good championship run.

4/1 is a ridiculous price for ye in a 2 horse race. On yer day ye'll be well able to beat Galway. It won't be easy but not as difficult as 4/1 odds suggests. The best of luck to ye on Sunday.

4/1 odds about right considering Galway are playing at home having played in Div 1 and All Ireland final last July losing only on fine margins. All the pressure and expectation is on Galway to win by a bit to spare on Sunday, Meanwhile we need a huge improvement from what we produced against Cavan,Westmeath and Monaghan in our final three league games in order to be as competitive as possible and if the game is still in the balance with 15/10 minutes to play we'll see where it takes us.

A long 4 or 5 week break for the loser on Sunday a bit of daft to have that within such a congested inter county season. The days of long summers are over with All Ireland semi final and final played in July now.

GAA need to consider playing Provincials in the same time frame as the NFL.
Like the Cups in soccer, set aside 4 weekends for Provincials amoung the Leagues games.
You'd have 11 rounds of fixtures over say 15 weekends.

It would eliminate the long gaps and mean most teams playing in similar timeframes.

I really hope we have made big improvements and will be putting in a big performance against Galway. I'm a bit worried after seeing the gap between Cavan and Tyrone on Sunday. Division 2 was operating way below the standard of Division 1 this year.

On the upside we have the strongest panel in years. We reached a QF last year which we weren't that far away in. And it seems like there is big player buy in. I hope they do themselves justice now.

Ah 4/1 is about right. We aren't playing well the last number of weeks and we have struggled all league defensively. The thing is has burke sorted that out in a couple of weeks I don't think so. Id fear of Galway forwards click they could do damage. Hopefully stack is available. On our day we can beat Mayo or Galway but it's about getting some consistency around the team now. I'm hoping for a solid performance and I think Galway win this by 6 or 7 points

A more sombre and realistic post when with your last post you had togoutlads on the Galway thread convinced you were thinking about a Connacht final and overlooking his team.
