Replying To Seanfanbocht: "Must have been 9 or 10?. At least our losses were all to teams who were / finished above us in the NFL., unlike 22 and 23 with Clare, Kikdare and Cork." Yes reaching the Quarter final by beating a Div 1 team in Tyrone was progress on not reaching Quarter final by losing to Div 2 teams in Cork and Clare.
Our last knock out All quarter final was the two matches against Mayo in 2017. D Murray,B Stack,E Smith,D Murtagh,D Smith the only players that played then and played against Armagh.
Best of luck to Shane Curran with Carlow, Did ok in his club manager roles in Roscommon.Wesmeath but his last time at inter county level with the Roscommon U20s in 2017/18 was a bit of struggle though a good few from those teams did go on to play for Roscommon seniors In Evan Flynn,Dylan Ruane,Cian McKeon.Eddie Nolan,James Fitzpatrick,Niall Higgins,Robbie Dolan.

Only 5 played in a previous knock out Qtr Final! Means we had 15 lads playing in their biggest game to date, then throw in 2 early injuries and a red card and missing nearly 20 scoring attempts... Glass is half full.....

A lot that could have went wrong did go wrong in that Quarter final and the end of if it was 14 scores to 12. Both goals conceded proved crucial and we should have done a lot better on the first goal that came from one of our many wasteful opportunities for a score and the 2nd goal was a pure gift.
With so few previous knock All Ireland Quarter finals appearances we need to get into a habit of reaching the last 8 consistently.

Great achievement in reaching an All Ireland Final. Any day you beat Kerry in football is a good day. They will now meet Tyrone in the Masters final who will be going for 4 in a row.

Congrats to the Masters hope to attend the All Ireland final if it's not clashing with club championship action.
Was in Ballyleague this evening for what turned out to be entertaining game and Davy Burke was in attendance taking notes as he watched on. . Nothing between the sides in contest that swung both ways, Howevee saying that Faithleachs ten minutes into 2nd half was 1-8 to 0-6 in front (the goal coming from Johnny Hussey whom also scored a goal v Brigids last week) and at that stage it appeared the home side was set up for a comfortable win but not to be as in the next 12 minutes Western Gaels had their best spell in the game to score 1-3 without reply to lead by 1.
Faithleachs then had to win the game 2nd time and two fine scores from distance from Ciaran Murtagh and one from defender Browne kept their noses in front to win by 1 point at the final whistle. Western Gaels scorers was Rory Hester 0-6,Kevin Higgins 1-1 ,David Higgins 0-1,Finbar Cregg 0-1,S McDermott 0-1 and St Faithleachs - David Rooney 0-3,D Murtagh 0-4,C Murtagh 0-3,J Hussey 1-0,J Browne 0-1.
Western Gaels two defeats in a row by 1 point and they now go into the relegation play off and can draw some encouragement from their two performances the last two weekends.

Took in the game at the weekend - weather hampered the game a small bit. Faithleachs were well in control until the black card at 12 mins into the 2nd half and this gave Western Gaels the drive to get back into the game. Some good frees from Hestor. Ciarain Murtagh kicked a free on the 45 and a point from a sideline ball to get Faithleachs a needed win. Notable performances were the 2 Murtagh brothers, Hestor and Rooney all chipping in with some fine scores.
Last weekend of the championship group stage this weekend - Group A will be very interesting:
Tulsk v Roscommon Gaels: Expect a win for Roscommon Gaels here. Too much firepower and some stronger players returning. Tulsk may go defensive and hope to drag the Gaels into a real battle.
Oran v Castlerea: Castlerea have a free shot at Oran here and will certainly go all out for the win. Oran flattering to deceive so far - need a big performance here.
Brigits v Western Gaels - straight forward win here for Brigit's. Western Gaels preparing for a relegation battle will look to avoid any unnecessery injuries here in a dead rubber game for them.
St. Faithleach's v Michael Glaveys - Winner takes all contest here in Ballyforan as 2nd place up for grabs. Faithleachs will look to build on 2 good performances. Expect Glaveys to shade this by 1 or 2 points only.
Clan na Gael v Dominics - Dominics already gone for relegation , can see Clan winning here. Same boat as Brigits. interesting to see if they rest players or field strong to finish the group top comfortably.
Pearses v Boyle - Another battle for 2nd spot, this will be one of the games of the weekend. Expect Pearses to win by 2 points but if Boyle click (as they tend to do around this time in the championship) they will give Pearses a good battle.

Tulsk vs Ros Gaels - Do or die for tulsk but i think the gaels will have too much for them. from all reports the gaels will be down close to 6 starters but need big games from peter gilooly and senan lambe R Gaels by 5
Castlerea vs Oran - nothing other than a win will do for oran which i think they will get. Oran by 3
Western Gaels vs Brigids - formality for brigids. Brigids by 10 +
Michael Glaveys vs Faithleachs - Could be close but Faithleachs by the slimiest of margin. Ciaran murtagh the difference last weekend
Pearses vs Boyle - Game of the weekend going for a draw but hopefully a pearses win, time to get moving ahead of knockout football. Hopefully a improvement in weather and i will enjoy my day out.
Dominics vs clann - if clann go full strength id go for clann by 4. Ciaran lennon moving well.
Intermiediate
Pearses vs Kilbride - loser i think will be relegated. Pearses by 2
shannon gaels vs Elphin - Elphin by 8. Good to see kiloran back in the country county 2025?
Fuerty vs Creggs - should be a right one fuertys running game will be the difference. could be a battle between the dowds and wards fuerty by 4
Croans vs Eire Og - Formality Eire Og. Cox kicking well for eire og
Strokestown vs Brigids - Strokestown should have too much
Kilmore vs Michaels - Big game for both teams. think michaels have something about them if the can get fiachra heenry firing i think they will edge it
Junior Ronans vs Western Gaels B Ronans having a shocking championship so far western gaels to win by 4
Aidan vs Barrys - Aidans favourites for the junior should win by 5+ Liam og Coyle flying for aidans
St Josephs vs Ros Gaels - Local derby fiery usually. Joes avoid defeat they are through. Johnny mannion and mickey egan to come to the fore. Josephs by 2.
Ballinameen vs clann - This will be close if clann arent on their game but i think they will edge is Mossy O'Neil to the fore.

SENIOR
Tulsk vs Roscommon Gaels - Gaels may be missing a few but should still have enough, Gaels by 4.
Castlerea vs Oran - I expect Oran to push on after their improved second round, Oran by 4 also.
Western Gaels vs Brigids - A formality for Brigids, Western Gaels preparing for a relegation playoff. Brigids by 10+.
Faitleachs vs Glaveys - Big game, winner goes straight through to the quarter final where they can't get Brigids. Going to go with Glaveys by the minimum in a good game.
Dominics vs Clann - Dead rubber as both teams fates already decided. Clann by 6.
Pearses vs Boyle - Biggest game of the weekend. Are Boyle back to a nearer full strength team? Pearses by 2.
INTERMEDIATE Elphin vs Shannon Gaels - Winner gets top spot, Elphin to continue their winning ways. Elphin by 3.
Kilbride vs Pearses B - Big game as I think the loser will eventually go down. Kilbride to pick up a well needed win, by 3.
Croans vs Eire Og - Handy win for Eire Og, 7 points.
Creggs vs Fuerty. Could be a decent game this, Fuerty by 2.
Kilmore vs Michaels - Michaels to get their first win of the campaign by 2 points.
Strokestown vs Brigids - Convincing win for Strokestown which would leave the ither 3 teams level on 2 points. Brigids have best scoring difference of the 3 atm so may play to keep the score down.
JUNIOR Ronans vs Western Gaels B - Poor so far from Ronans after a good league. Western Gaels by 3.
Aidans vs Barrys - Aidans by 5 to cement top spot.
Ros Gaels B vs Josephs - Winner goes through to the play off, fancy Josephs to get the job done by the minimum.
Clann B vs Ballinameen - Clann to top the group, 6 points.
Boyle B vs Tulsk B - Handy win for Boyle which could see them top the group if Kilglass beat Strokestown.
Kilglass vs Strokestown B - Tight game but Kilglass by 2.

Great to see the the Roscommon GAA website is back up and running. I was impressed to see all the team lineouts for all the championships matches made available in advance on the website. Great to see players like Conor Daly, Daire Cregg and Cian McKeon back playing for their clubs this weekend. Hopefully they will all stay injury free and will be available for Roscommon this year.

Senior championship group stages over not a lot learnt, Brigids remain the team to beat the knock out stages will show their true challengers from the pretenders. A few one sided contests this weekend but to be expected with teams having one eye on their relegation play off or quarter final next weekend. Most encouraging view point for me is the amount of players under 20 who are standing out and impressing in games.
Brigids,Roscommon Gaels,Clann into the Quarter final and seeded. They are join by Pearses,Glaveys,Oran one of which will hoping they are lucky in the draw and become the 4th seeded team
Play off to reach the last 8 Castlerea,Faithleachs,North Roscommon,Boyle the latter should to win regardless who they draw there.
Tulsk,Dominics and Western Gaels the relegation trio and hard to call who will go down.
At the intermediate it's looking like a straight shoot out between Elphin,Eire OG,Fuerty and Strokestown and whoever wins it out will fancy their chances of winning Connacht.
Relegation Michaels,Croans and the loser of Pearses v Kilbride.

Great to hear that some of the younger players are playing well in the championship. Hopefully that might encourage a strong management team to come on board for the county under 20's this year and a few of these players might make the breakthrough to the senior panel.

With Lar Wall now departing it leaves us again with no coach. That's 3 coaches in 3 years departing after just a year in the set up? Where do we go next.
