First-time poster here.

Apologies to those who want to dive straight into full Frank Fox mode, but I've one question that's been nagging at me.

Has anyone got a theory or explanation as to why we seemed to let both the Derry and Meath goalkeepers get their final short kickouts away so easily in the dying moments of those games?

It looked like we stood off, gave them the easy option, and paid the price. Surely we had to push up in those moments? So why didn't we? Fatigue? Systems failure? Some other reason or a combination of factors?

Gaillimh abú.

You can add the Dublin game to that as well. We'd just gotten level and we knew it was the last kickout of the match. If they won it, they'd almost certainly win as they were working scores so easily. Yet, they got an easy kickout away.
The same versus Derry and Meath as you said. The Meath one being the most crucial. We absolutely had to pressure that kickout or we were out of the championship. The ease with which he picked out a free man was a killer.
I understand lads are tired, but we've seen other teams squeeze the last kickout very well. The fact that it happened 3 times in one season highlights something missing.
In fact, you could argue the same occurred against Mayo, but we were lucky we had 2 point lead and they were incapable of kicking one. They certainly would have a 1-pointer if they had to.

Well dealing specifically with that last kickout in the Meath game - it isn't clear when you watch it back on tv.
But it happened right in front of me - Kieran Molloy who had come on as a sub completely switched off and did not pickup the man closest to him who made a run towards his own goal.
Rob Finnerty was forced to split to cut this kick off which left another Meath player free in the number 4 position - who the goalie duly chipped the ball out to
That's where it came from.

Would you stop, Meath gave us a schooling on the day, both their goals were preventable. Donegal then showed us what we needed to do with a mid level division 2 team.

Every county player is approached before they're knocked out.
It's always been that way.
Doesn't mean anything.

Amateur i correct in saying 2021 was a strange year for every team.
Not an excuse for flopping in the final.

The famous Galway shawl of 2018 - back for 2026??
Some people might not like it, but Walsh was a beaten docket once Tally left.

Looking at that final, we were not near that level this year let's be honest. Last year is going to sting for a few years, can only imagine how the players/ PJ feel

They would have ripped us to shreds.

I think we could have beaten Donegal, as imo, they're a good, but nevertheless, limited team. But, you're right, imo Kerry would have easily outscored us. So, in hindsight, a bullet dodged.. as we definitely didn't need to be on the receiving end of another beating from Kerry. Always hope though.. keep supporting the lads.

Has Mr Joyce lost the dressing room, he could have. Also I think Galway/Mayo might need to boycott the All Ireland series. In order to get fair play for Connacht teams. Only one win since 2000. GAA biased against us.

Right. It's the GAA being biased against us that caused us not to have a fit free taker on the pitch in last year's final, and for the multiple ways Mayo shot themselves in the foot in All-Ireland finals.
I hope you're on a wind-up, like the dozen or so kerry4sam, cork4liam accounts that are popping up all the time now.
Connacht teams are doing a pretty good job boycotting Sam as it is.
If you are being serious, which I hope you're not, explain how the GAA is biased against Connacht teams.
