Looking at subs bench it's looking a lot like last year lots of defenders on it also last 2 matches o connaghile on bench not this time again much same pattern as last year also Costello came on v mayo not on bench now I think himself and McGlinchy should have being left to train with under 20s this year surely Galway have enough lads from 21 up"
Fully agree but when everyone is fit i cant see either lad making a 26. It will definitly benefit them being around the likes of Conroy for a season. This current u20 crop is littered with potential future senior players and Costello and Mcglinchy are probably the two important players to Savage and are core from that Minor All Ireland group. Along Jack Lonergan, Sean Dunne, Charlie Cox, Eanna Monaghan, Ross Coen, Vinny Gill, Shane Canavan, Luc O'Connnor. Even with the loss of Farthing and Trayers to other sports, this group has All Ireland potential. After stong seasons from Oranmore, Dunmore McHales, Killannin and Mountbellew in the u19A, it will also be interesting to see who Savage has picked up on and brought in. Not sure if U19 POTY Darragh Clery was part of previous panels underage. Is Ciaran Mulhern still u20? I think there was 7 Claregalway lads in that u17 panel in 2022, there will obviously be a big shift here with the emergence of other clubs in the underage scene.

Are Shane Canavan and Luc O Connor u20 still? Thought they were overage now. Don't remember either being involved with the minors three years ago

Your right Luc O'Connor is overage. Shane Canavan played u19 for Corofin this year, so I assume that makes him eligible for Galway u20's.

We are 8 points up, Gleeson is getting loads of possession and space. Perfect time to give Conor Flaherty minutes

Decent so far but - How many times does one player have to get turned over before we will make a change? Wake up sideline.

Whatever about turning Gleeson into a goalkeeper, we're never make him an outfield threat. Derry aren't even picking him up. Time to put an outfield player in goal.

Got cleaned in midfield. Would've lost that match if there was another minute to play. Should've lost too, Derry missed a pile of chances

After looking at this game it's obvious we still have no knockout strategy

The 2 points rule is covering up a lot for Galway. Joyce won't make changes. it's like Kevin Walsh all over again players struggling and left on the field. Derry got 15 scores Galway 10

Flaherty deserve a go to see how he goes.

Add in the issue with olaoi who also doesn't need picking up as doesn't offer a scoring threat we will be hoping 12v11 goes out of all div1 teams.

First 45 minutes was nearly perfect but we got no impact off bench while Derry got a huge impact

Overall plenty room to improve but safety nearly guaranteed

Lots of positives too Shane going well, another clean sheet.

Kelly conroy due a rest as was tough going last 20 minutes

Awful collapse in the second half. They stopped playing, slowed it down and tried to sit on a 9 point lead. Painful watching Gleeson trotting up the field tapping the ball on his foot. Lost all momentum after that. Couldn't win a kick out the last 20 minutes and Murray caused wreck after he came on. Couldn't get our shooters on the ball in the second half. O'Laoi and Daly both dropped handy ones short into the keeper. One of the Derry points was definitely wide. While one of Walsh's looked over but was given wide.

Same pattern as last year backs in forwards molloy brough on forwards o flaherty same and he was best player last 2 Mach have agree 2 points cover up lack of forwards I've being saying it for last few years Galway have one scoring forward Walsh end of story o Laoi 3 matches 1 point Darcy 3 match's 1 point o Neill 3 matches 1 point o curraine 3 matches 2 scores from play

Put a goalie jersey on a forward and give Conor number 14, its a no brainer.
What is wrong with management?

There were 3 key moments.
When we got caught for the 3v3, we actually only had one up.
The Conroy intercepted hand pass.
The free on Gleeson for delaying the kick out.
Every game now when we really need possession. We just balloon it out to the middle to big men. Will work a treat some days, not against Conor Glass and the like. We were wiped on our own kick out and the hooter saved us.

Odd match and mixed views for Galway. Nine points ahead at half time, should have been game won and enough cuteness and experience to close the game out but managed to get outscored 0-12 to 0-3 2nd half and lucky enough Derry kick a number of chances short. Still its 5 points from games against Mayo,Armagh and Derry and certainly would have taken that before the league.

Ah go away out of that Finnerty and comer are clearly scoring forwards over last 2 years.

8 points from HF line today I'm sure you won't mention that

O'Laoi has been nervous, and has been taking too much out of it in all 3 games but he can still come good hopefully, a few scores could turn it around for him. After 3 games it is unforgivable for any team to be getting caught out not having 3 up. That was the difference in winning and getting a draw. Anyway good to get 5 from 6 points with 2 away games. My main concern is our sluggishness moving the ball up the field with good kick passing.

I would have taken a draw before the game, never easy going up to Derry who are fighting for div 1 survival.
First half flawless, second half we simply sat back , and once they got a few scores and the crowd behind them..
Gleeson getting punished for taking too long on the kickout was long overdue and he needed that..
One of the Derry scores clearly wide, but I'm glad we were poor in the second half, don't want to be getting ahead of ourselves, loads to work on.
Finally OLaoi is a workhorse but not a scorer in a million years, we need scorers as well..
