Disappointing result for University of Galway in Sigerson. Would love to see a change of management here possibly utilising some of the up and coming coaches linked to the Galway Development Squads/U20s etc. Be nice progression and potentially a good learning curve prior to pushing on for senior role. Maurice Sheridan has been there long enough now. Time for a change that will be a positive for Galway football also.

Absolutely. Maurice has had a decent run at this and time to change now. We should be better.

Totally agree and the football he plays is a hard watch & this team were tipped as many peoples favorites. Any news on managmenet appointments at club level?

One thing to note from UG's (should have stuck with UCG name from day one, like Cork and Dublin rightly did!) loss to UL was that the UL full forward, think he's McDonnell from Cork, actually took 9 steps and then 6 steps in the build up to the first goal. Just cos you're being tackled doesn't mean you can keep striding through like Bundee Aki! I saw video of it. How no mentor on Galway's sideline plus players on the field are absolutely bellowing 'steps' is beyond me, the ref missed those collective 15 steps completely or conveniently ignored it. Nobody called steps. People watching the game and in the game have to wake up and call out these blatant fouling of the ball incidents. It delivered the goal which swung the whole game. Well, that and UL's very fortuitous second half penalty.

Whilst I did not see steps is a huge problem in GAA and more specifically in hurling but this is on the ref/officials. I am not sure oppossition players are to blame for not calling steps & who knows I am sure they did. Poor reflection on UCG not getting out of the group & Maurice has done his time time to change it up.

Replying To GDL:  "We'll have to agree to disagree, but for a very bizarre penalty call, and a hit and hope ball for the second goal, Jarlath's were by far the better side for me. They were also missing Mannion at fullback (man of the match in the county minor final in 2023) and any team that can leave Ross Mitchell and Conor Bodkin in the subs has a fair bit of talent. Claregalway unfortunately continue with poor football and surely will reflect on that, they've wasted so much talent from feile and minor winning teams since they joined the College competition."
A bad day in Bekan for St Jarlaths , well bet in the Junior development game and also defeated fairly comprehensively by Summerhill..
Jarlaths struggled in all positions throughout the game.
As I stated last week unfortunately individual talent counts for nothing , and Summerhill were superb as a team in the second half..

Poor today all right. A wasted opportunity in my opinion. An awful shame as there are some very good players.

Hopefully the new floodlights don't end up on the Atlantic before Saturday

Will affect both teams preparation and Armagh travelling down.

Be nice to get 2pts on board and have a crack at league and win a final at Croke park

Jarlaths were very poor yesterday. Negative and lacked ideas, poorly coached. One Connacht title in over a decade not good enough with the talent available. Seems to be problems with coaching in the school.

Dylan Geaney is in college in NUI, right? Why has he never lined out for their footballers considering he's on a scholarship.

The stand will be in big demand Saturday evening with the weather. Is it general admission as per other league matches each year?

If ur sitting in first 15 rows in stand if it's raining u get soaked hard to see anymore than 7-8 thousand at it its on tv and in reality it's the middle of winter unfortunately most county matches are played between end jan to end March in 9 weeks every county guarantee 7 matches and after that lots of counties will only play 4 more matches until next jan again does not make sense to me , Connacht championship starts first week April Connacht final first week may ,,

That's another argument for another day. Back to my question, is it general admission in the stand this Saturday as per other years?

He was in the squad list for the Sigerson. Never appeared after that.
