Replying To hopballref:  "Is there any valid reason why teams cant do warm up's on pitch in Tuam Stadium, kick about at half time or let kids on to play?"
To be fair to Tuam Stadium staff, that pitch is asked to do an inordinate amount of work, from juvenile fixtures through adult teams of all grades, and it's always in good condition for games. Great condition in fact, considering the number of games. I think keeping the additional wear and tear of warm ups off the field, especially as late autumn / winter conditions set in, makes sense. Warm ups generally involve drills, which sees lots of turns and harsh wear and tear on a few spots. If any of you have had to look after pitches, you'll know that warm ups and drills cause more damage on a wet (or dry) pitch than any game. As for kids playing on the pitch, nice to see that on intercounty days alright, a bit of a hindrance in reality around tightly scheduled club matches.

Just wondering if there was any word on Cian O'Neill's replacement or any rumours of who might get it? It's been awhile now since he announcement of his departure you would think it would be sorted by now,

Rumours abounding of one of Seamus Moynihan, Jayo or Dessie Dolan or even two of the above being involved! Not sure what's happening. Forwards coach desperately needed in my book. Our attack needs way more drilling to gel cohesive 'plays'. The backs are well organised already and that can continue.

Thanks for the info, I think he should freshen up his backroom team as well a few new selector's fresh eyes maybe, I know it won't happen

I see the County Board have fixed Glinsk v St James' for Miltown at 7.30pm next Saturday in the Junior A County Final. They really don't help themselves do they, a ridiculous time to put it on

I still think they are OTT and whether they like it or not getting a proper warm up is only fair on the teams who have trained all year. Maybe some of the juvenile games should be moved out of there if they can't handle it. Subs can't even run up and down the sideline at half time to warm up prior to coming on.

Don't worry about it , Pearse Stadium will be back in action in January and regular decent norms will be restored for kids and subs at big matches at least.

We also want a decent game of football and no traffic. Move Pearse to Tuam and we are laughing.

Kenny Park yesterday and after three senior games Sat and Sunday the Thomas,s and Turlough lads warmed up on the pitch and at half time I counted 33 subs on the pitch pucking around. In Tuam even with the ground rock hard subs and kids would be run out of there.

Haven't been producing enough good players in the club in recent times. Similar to many clubs in intermediate - small margins between the weakest and strongest in that division.

The difference between a good year and a bad year for some of the smaller rural clubs can often be a few injuries or the amount of lads that are away in Australia at any given time. These clubs don't have the squad depth to cover player losses.

still definitely wouldn't consider any sort of a divisional comp despite struggling clubs. clubs like the aforementioned two & killererin really need to consider applications for amalgamations

I think they are amalgamated at younger levels.

No. Junior A is separate to Junior ( or Premier Junior as they now call it). To understand this you need to go back to about 8 or 10 years ago when we had 3 grades of Junior , namely A, B & C. At the time there was too many teams in Jun A so they separated it into 2 I.e. Junior and Junior A. Go figure as to why they didn't go Junior A, B,C, D but I guess that would have meant relegating a chunk of teams from A to B etc.. Of course we all know that's what they effectively did as despite the naming Junior A is effectively the B grade of Junior just like senior B hurling is really Intermediate. Now as much as I laugh at this folly ,I really have to praise the inventiveness of the county board in the manner that they streamlined the Premier Junior into 1st teams and non first teams and now we have 8 teams left competing for the right to go intermediate. Headford, Killererin, Carraroe, Carna, Tuam 2, Claregalway 2, Mountbellew 2, Salthill 2. At the next level St James v Glinsk winner goes up to Premier Junior for next year. I hope this helps clarify a confusing situation.

I'd take anything from anotheralias with a pinch of salt before any reiteration
