Replying To dickie10: "Immigration perhaps? I think similar happening on a national scale with Dublin but that's soccer growth with league of Ireland and Leinster rugby, and dublin team rarely bring on tv anymore. I think I'm 20 years it will be unthinkable that dublin were constantly all Ireland champions of in shake up. GAA on way to dying in dublin I think" @dickie10 I'm all up for having a laugh, but I think blaming immigration is a step too far. I believe the logical answer to the decline in football in Navan is a combination of fluoride in the water and pesticides in the foods bought in supermarkets. It's clear that other clubs outside the Navan urban area have been growing their own food organically. You can see this reflected in the decision-making of their players.
Perhaps the over-reliance of Navan players on seed oils, compared to the country clubs using animal-based fats, is also a contributing factor.
I wonder if the county board will look at joining the three clubs together. I think they would make a decent intermediate team.

2 local derby's and a repeat of last year's final. Not an easy game there and hard to pick winners.
Inter is slightly different would expect Moynalvey, Castletown and Pats to win. Last game is a tougher one to call.

Replying To Royal.Legend: "So what's the reason for there decline in your opinion." Development is probably the biggest issue for all 3.
Simonstown haven't replaced the likes of Kenny and Lyons and add in the factor of losing Nash and O Rourke. They have brought in good footballers like Gavin and Farrelly but a lot of the fringe players from the 16/17 teams never stepped up.
NOM haven't replaced any of the 2015 team, I would love to know how many of that team in 2015 played a championship game this year. They have no leaders and have not had any for the last 2 or 3 years.
Bective again are struggling mainly due to an aging team and not developing enough players.
The likes of Tobin, McKeever, Sheridan are all 34 plus. When they go I don't know who is going to do the scoring for Simonstown.

Four potentially cracking quarter finals drawn tonight in the SFC, very hard to call any of the games but I'll stick my neck out and go for Ratoath, Trim, Wolfe Tones and Skryne. Relegation games also hard to call but I'll go for Gaeil Colmcille and Meath Hill to survive at the first attempt.
Intermediate throws up more intriguing pairings, I'll go Castletown, Moynalvey, Oldcastle and Kilbride to progress, shocking and sad to see NOM in a relegation playoff but I'll give them the nod to get over Ballivor, Curraha and Bective hard to call but I'll pump for the Ha to survive but a hard game to call.

Some Really good games across the Senior and Intermediate for the quarter finals. The senior is a bit tougher to call winners compared to the intermediate but for the Senior Im going with Ratoath Skyrne Trim Wolfe Tones All to advance to the semi finals. I think Dunshaughlin are moving quite poorly and really struggling to get back to where they were last year but definitely wouldn't write them off. Think the Tones will be happy with this and will want to get one back on them after last year. Trim are moving very well and Summerhill are struggling to but yet again knockout football is where it counts. The relegation is very open and Meath Hill will definitely fancy there chances at staying up after yesterdays win.
The Intermediate I am going for: Moynalvey Castletown St Pats St Michaels
Think the top 3 games should be straightforward with Kilbride being the best of the other bunch and could put it up to St Pats depending on which version of the Pats we see. A good year for Dunsany all the same getting to a quarter final, Castletown should have to much for Drumbaragh and once again a good year had for Drumbaragh getting this far. St Michael's and Oldcastle should be a good game and a very close contest, I feel that Oldcastle really haven't been tested to date topping their group out longwood, Drumbaragh and Curraha. The Michael's have had 3 tough games and came out well in 2/3 games. Really hard to call but should make a great game. Relegation is a battle of the first semi final. Curraha or Bective to go down unless Curraha can get lads home. Ballivor (beaten semi finalists last year to the winners) and NOM (beaten finalists) should have way to much for relegation and will be back to compete for Intermediate next year. Bective to be relegated

Replying To RegionalsGuru: "What's in the water in Navan this weather? Is fluoride the answer to why the Navan clubs are so poor, or is it the takeover of soccer, rugby, and TikTok with young fellas?
Bective look down and out and likely to drop back into junior after finishing bottom of a weak intermediate group.
The Mahonys are way off it. There seems to be a lack of passion and leadership within the group, and it's hard to look past the responsibility of the more senior players in the squad. It seems no matter the outcome of the relegation playoffs, the management will be gone-and likely snapped up by a senior club. Will Niall Higgins return for the relegation, as I predicted a couple of weeks back? How many of the players would not be there next year if they get the drop? It could be time for the return of Fay for the relegation game(s) to play the big Sam role.
Simonstown are looking likely to follow the south Navan men into intermediate, following poor league and championship campaigns. Like the Mahonys, a few of their senior players might be hanging up their boots depending on the outcome of their relegation game(s).
So what does everyone think is the issue with the Navan clubs? Fluoride? Video games? Soft office jobs? Soccer? Iced coffees? It's hard to put your finger on it. However, one thing is for sure: when the interviewers ask the management of these clubs if it can go on like this, the response for now is… "it can."" Soft office jobs? Iced coffee's? What type of nonsense is this ? Maybe you drank to much fluoride your self

I think your onto something there but I blame it more on the monosomethingorothers that is available in copious amounts from Chinese takeaways scattered all over the Capital Town. The writing was on the wall late last year as the eating of this type of food rose sharply in the lead up to the IFC Final as the boys from Barley hill were feasting on cabbage and Hairy bacon washed down with raw liver as the butcher shops in kinscourt and carrick couldn't keep it supplied

Draw is interesting, at senior I'd tip Tones, Summerhill, Ratoath and Skryne to make the semis, and the relegation final will be Simonstown and St Colmcille's.
Trickier at Intermediate, I'll pick Moynalvey, Castletown, St Pat's and St Michael's to cause the upset. I just feel like Oldcastle always flatter to deceive, they've looked like contenders at Intermediate for a while, but always seem to stumble. St Michael's might catch them.
Relegation final will be Ballivor v Bective

The cards haven't favoured Dunshaughlin or Tones! Odds on a Ratoath double have shortened over night! Summerhill will have a smile on their face too…. #MysticMeg

I must say I think it's a great decision by the county board to put two back to back double headers in HQ , really facilitates the public soaking in all four quarter finals with ease.
Watching Summerhill last year and dunch this year it really shows how hard it is for a team to do back to back in senior championships

Tones and Dunshaughlin still the two bookies' favourites. Whoever wins that quarter final will likely be odds on to win it outright. Don't think there's been a more dramatic final day of the senior group stages that I can remember.

If Dunshaughlin can seal up their defence and stop the goals, they have better forward line than Tones. Tones perhaps a more balanced team and are likely favourites but in Navan on a good day, if Dunshaughlin forwards open up and they have a platform from midfield they will be hard stopped. They are due a performance after late reprieve last day out.

Nobody tipping Skryne to go all the way, I saw them twice and they're very good strong up the middle and very fast on the wings. They're playing a great brand of football. I think Dunsaughlin will come through against the Tones. Tones have a very organised defence but slow up front and don't score enough. Ratoath are a peculiar outfit either brilliant putting up massive scores or very average, still I'll give them the nod. Summerhill only really get going in the knockout stages and are a very hard team to beat in Navan a step to far for the Bracks. Skryne to go all the way. Don't mention the relegation

They were really good intermediate champions. Since 2014 they have contested 7 of the Division 1 Minor Championship finals and won 3 of them. They have a huge playing pool. I am really surprised by how poor they have been this year - I know they have been missing Conlon but given the number of minor players they have had coming through over the past 10 years I had expected them to be at least competitive. Right now they look like favourites for relegation. Any thoughts on what the issue is? Is it just that the Minors aren't coming through ? On the flip side, Skyrne have done an amazing job - it would not have surprised me a few years back if the two clubs fortunes had been the other way round!

The Meath Championship is in the gutter. Teams are finished playing by September, and the format is all wrong. The team that finishes top of the group should go straight through to a quarter-final. 2nd and 3rd place should play in a preliminary quarter-final. The bottom seed should go into relegation. Groups should be seeded the following year based on this format. Right now, you have situations like Ballinabrackey reaching a quarter-final while clubs like Dunboyne and Gaeil Colmcille are either relegation or finished for the year. How can you justify having the last four winners of the intermediate championship stuck in the same group? And teams are going through on just two points - it's no wonder Meath clubs never compete properly in Leinster or beyond.

How can you have a championship where teams have only played 3 games and it started and ended in August for them. The leagues are really poor especially for teams below the top 2 divisions. Club team players are unnecessarily training from at least January for what? Paid coaches and young fellows that would train every day of the week are putting pressure on club players to train all year round. A minor injury at the wrong time could completely derail a player from participating. None of it makes sense.

Ballinabrackey there on merit.
Although I do agree groups should be seeded. That said was a very exciting group stage this year.
