What's the injury latest? RB confirmed Banty was done for the year. Sounded optimistic Costello would be back the next day. Haven't heard with Flynn, Jones or Kinlough though. MeathAbroad (Meath) - Posts: 168 - 16/06/2025 06:41:09 2618017 Link 0 |
Flynn had a sling on the other day on the pitch after the match dont see him back for the next day.

Great win. Well done to the lads and management. Arguably missing more instrumental players to our team than kerry were. Hopefully few recoveries for the 1/4 final. Wonder will the 1/4 final be the 28th or 29th and I presume it'll be croker. 902109 (Meath) - Posts: 1 - 16/06/2025 12:01:38 2618180 Link 0 |
Saw Conor Duke was dominated for player of the week, and while he was very good, how Ciarán Caulfield or Ruairi Kinsella wasn't included I'll never know. Cabbagepatch1667 (Meath) - Posts: 48 - 16/06/2025 14:34:21 2618312 Link 0 |
Leave the national media and the experts to it. The narrative around the country has been that Kerry had their b-team out, or even that they didn't want to win the game as they wanted an extra game. We will more than likely face Donegal, Dublin or Galway in the QF and will be completely overlooked- which will suit us down to the ground. Almost a good thing that Meath ahven't been on live TV yet as many are still unfamiliar with us LoyalRoyal66 (Meath) - Posts: 86 - 16/06/2025 14:40:56 2618318 Link 0 |
Not going to be any easy game in the quarters with the likes of Donegal and Galway in the prelims. Dublin blowing hot and cold but everyone going to fancy their chances from here. The break could be massive though. You seen with the 2 week break between Roscommon and Kerry the difference it can make.

A fair chance we will get Donegal in the 1/4 final as they can only get Monaghan or Meath.Thats assuming they get by Louth. If Louth and Cork defy the odds then we will get Down or Galway if Kerry also win.Whoever we get I'm sure we will give it a good auld rattle. Yeah would agree, delighted Duke had a good game bringing back his league form but Kinsella was unreal but for me Caulfields energy and drive was key.

GAA team of the week was released there and they have Keoghan and Duke on it. Don't get me wrong, they both played very well, but you just know it's a case of "Meath won, sure I assume Keoghan played well, throw him in it". Personally thought Kinsella was immense, Caufield was everywhere, and just don't know how you would leave both out of a team of the week unless you weren't at the game, and just completely guessed. There was the same report from game on all outlets, Rte, GAA.ie and all the papers. Think Marty might have done the commentary after the game from his kitchen. Unfortunately the only way to know is being at the game. Agree Kinsella up there with Pat Havern, Michael Murphy and Co. as form player in the country at the moment based on last two performances. Really need to keep it up but great to see so many putting in top drawer displays. It's a team game so everyone needs to keep it going.

one thing certain they will do their best not to give us an all star anyway. louth got one for losing leinster final and being beaten in an quater final. keoghan or caulfield should be nailed on all stars. but cant see it unless media outlets and anaylsyts start talking it up. kildare got 2 in 2010 for a semi final even though they were bet in first round of leinster by 6 points dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 866 - 17/06/2025 00:01:25 2618559 Link 0 |

We shouldnt be to worried about All Stars. With a young a player like Caufeild if were to get one for eg could just put perrsure on a young player. A different story if keoghan its if he were you get one. Be nice for him but he is absolute legend. If he gets one or not its going matter one jont to Meath supporters. As he one of best players best ever produced. How is that man still going after coming through some on the most nonsese setups over of the past nearly 14 years... is beyond fair to him.

Settle down, there's a lot of players across the country playing great. Ross Mcquillan armagh for example (ironically went to school in dunshaughlin) is already a nailed on all star. There's no way Keoghan is a nailed on all star. Caulfield in with a shout. As it stands now Conor Mccarthy from Monaghan is ahead of the meath players too, so that's two wing backs ahead of Caulfield and Keoghan

Agree, all stars will predominantly based on quater, semi and final and maybe a couple of top performers from provincial winners. We shouldn't care really about them as usually there are glaring mistakes made in selecting. There are a high level of top performers around the country as it stands and hope that continues but shouldn't be a topic we are concerned about at all. All about next day out! winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 760 - 17/06/2025 12:26:43 2618677 Link 2 |
A great result against Kerry, I know they were missing players but a 9 point victory in championship against them is a fantastic achievement. Dominated midfield which gave us the platform to go on and win. Caufield and Keoghan were excellent. I think O Neill compliments Menton more than Flynn, he covers more ground and is a lot more athletic. UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 428 - 18/06/2025 10:32:59 2618931 Link 1 |
The more I hear about this excuse that 'kerry were missing 6 players', the more it ****** me off. We battered kerry by 9 points. . That never happens in championship football to a kerry team, which means something out of the ordinary has happened here. We should have won by more with the 2 goal chances we missed. If we snuck it by a point or two, then maybe you'd say we got lucky because of their injuries. But those 6 players are not a 9 point difference. From Our perspective, we were missing Costello (our 2nd highest scorer in championship overall and who would walk on to any team in the country) and Banty (4th highest scorer from play in the country before Saturday) as well as missing the workhorses that are Jonsey and Flynn. O' Halloran and Kinlough you could argue were missing for us as well, but I don't see them as integral or as influential as the 4 above. Agree with everything here. A great win and performance but Kerry were decimated by injuries. Their depth is either poor or Jack O'connor deserves a bit of criticism for not giving them more gametime when there was plenty of chances to do so in the league and munster championship. As you mentioned the 3 forwards were massive losses but the biggest loss might have been Diarmuid O'Connor. They were non competitive in midfield, Mark O Shea really struggled. Meath have shown they do have a nice bit of depth now, it's not the first time this year they have put in a great performance without Costello, Flynn, Conlon, Jones etc. Hopefully Down and Cork at least knock lumps out of Galway and Dublin this weekend. Donegal will probably beat Louth easily not leaving 2nd gear so getting Donegal in the quarters has to be the worst case scenario. Actually expect Louth to give Donegal a good fight of it too. Louth had an obvious hangover after Leinster final but its do or die now and they have not become a bad team overnight. Donegal with McGuinness carrying alot of arrogance with them and may bite them. Think Dublin will be 5+ against Cork and with a win in Croker, they will be building momentum and will be a tough opponent. Down v Galway could be a 50/50 shootout. Galway are up and down. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 760 - 18/06/2025 14:38:48 2619018 Link 1 |
