This is a big enough of an issue in Enfield with underage lads going into to Kildare to play with johnstownbridge instead of nafianna. This situation alone has double digits and will increase with players younger siblings going playing with them aswell.

What's the options really. I do think hurling season is extended unnecessarily at moment with shield like competitions.
Condense hurling season May to July
FB only July/August to October?
FB league start in March to May with Hurling?
I'm not sure what best approach is. I'm not fully up to speed with hurling. Best ask dual players.

listened to Robbie Brennan interview he did (last day or 2??) for Meath GAA facebook speaking about his appointment.
One main thing that stood out was the fact that he mentioned that he was always big on having a great management team with good coaches around him which was obviously refreshing to hear.
They also went through the CVs of the 2 coaches which was more impressive than I thought initially.
Also said he had no intention of holding trials and that he was happy with what COR had done in terms of the players he blooded. Said he would start with them and reading between the lines he would also go after some of the players that left the panel. So he is making a lot of sense so far
Also said Corey is already looking at the new rules and devising plans if they come in so this is just feeding my heart and soul with goodness!! :)
Also mentioned that the focus for the start is start planning and have a good S&C place too.
Compared to COR initial interviews where he really only spoke about wanting to beat Dublin i like the way RB goes about his business.
My only concern is that he is still inexperienced at intercounty level and may take a bit to learn how to cope on a sideline when decisions need to be made but not too worried about that.
So I firmly believe that we will find out next year (or 2 maybe) if we have the talent in the county because it looks like they will have a good management team giving them everything they need!
And i have always said that a good manager doesnt need years to impact a senior intercounty team so I would be expecting to see us competing for Div1 status as early as 2025 :)
I may be quiet on the forum this year!!!

Agree a lot here, I think we have some highly talented player in the county, an potentially only need to add one or two more fresh faces as well as bringing back in one or two that left. I think our biggest problem was with the management and style last year, not the talent itself.
I'd be happy with a 3rd/4th place finish minimum next year and then aim for promotion the year after, I'd always give a manager at least 1 year to get to know his squad, implement a style etc and then after that would be looking for progress. If we get it in year 1 then thats just a bonus really

what's the story with RB upbringing ? Did he grow up in Dublin but supported meath etc ? Very impressed with how he came across , the fact he is not holding trials is always a plus

It was lovely to hear him talk about having his picture taken with his hero COR as a kid. And having to come up to Navan to get a Meath Jersey cos he couldn't get one in Dublin back in the day. It's a bonus that he's a Meath man. Although as you said, it doesn't matter these days.
