Really good interview. The LMFM lad pinned him down well. His comments about inter county experience were interesting. If, reading between the lines, he's more keen on someone they've come up with beyond the two club nominations (Wall and Brennan) you'd wonder who in the hell that could be. Good to hear him emphasise the importance of full, experienced backroom. Hard to know what to expect after that, could pull a rabbit out of a hat, could be Meath equivalent of an Icelandic dentist.

Hadn't heard him speak before but I liked it. No nonsense and to the point. Didn't seem to hold any sentiment towards the previous regime either. May not be the 2 horse race we first thought it was but good to know that we have 2 decent candidates already with their hats in the ring. Also interesting that he suggested that the 2 nominated would not necessarily be entitled to go through a full interview process... Points to a rabbit out of the hat as you suggested but maybe we're reading too much into what he said. Worth listening back for anyone who missed it - David Sheehan asked the right questions.

I'd be worried of who they think would be better then either of them candidates at the moment ,that would be interested in us. Sometimes it's better not try to be too clever when the answer is staring you in the face. I haven't heard walls backroom team yet tho. Brennans is impressive.

Yes agreed well done to David Sheehan and chairman for an interview that was to the point and without waffle. I liked the attitude of the chairman particularily where its clear he is concentrating on WHAT needs to be done firstly rather than WHO does it. A welcome attitude ,also great to see a 5 minute interview with no "excuses" mentioned. He even mentioned they may learn from the process. Good grounds now for optimism when it appears we seem to have a leader in the driving seat. Dont know the man from Adam .I think if i was for interview i would need my ducks in a row exactly as it should be.

Have inter County experience so Technically might be but without being too disrespectful to Leitrim and Wicklow experience as manager of those 2 wouldn't be enough for me to get it ahead of RB or Lar Wall

I imagine it would be difficult to answer that question without seeing the key requirements they have listed for the role ,and also how they each perform under the pressure of an interview. I think the interview will aim to replicate the reality of managing where quick decision making under pressure and man management skills are vital. Expounding theories only goes so far. I believe a good interview will be a good aid to finding the right man. I like the fact that the chairman stressed that no mad rush as important to find the right man.In fact we now know names mean very little in determining who that man might be.Welcome to new beginnings in approach and attitude .I cant remember the last time we could honestly say that,and longer still since you could say the top table seem to be on the ball.However,time will tell ! I would think the right man will not fear an interview and be raring to go and relish the opportunity .That will be real life for a real manager like it or lump it from here forward.

Interview's have limited value when trying to identify the ideal person. May serve to weed out chancer's and bluffer's. However, its easy to prepare these day's with every situtation covered in detail on line. A lot also depends on the expertise of panel doing the interview, the questions asked and is there any bias toward's canidate. It comes down to the man with best CV and more importantly his backroom team. But luck will also play a part in selection. It remains to be seen if top table is on the ball, a few mixed messages still coming out, strange to hear Vice Chair and other committie members are/were aware of whats going on.

As ii said in my post the interview can be a valuable AID in selecting the right candidate, I agree totally that the expertise of the interview panel is critical of course. Without a high standard here interviews are indeed of little value. I think in Meath we have to treat the interview in a business like manner,because it is more of a business than it ever was . Massive money being spent ,and we should guard against that being the main attraction. I also believe that a strong independent person on the panel will be well able to deal with spoofers which are 10 a penny. CVs can very flowery also .The real interview will focus on all that glitters is not gold perhaps. This is where a professional approach from the panel is all important .If not forget it and all bets are off They have had years to upgrade their interviews to meet modern demands. I believe they will be very well prepared .May not be perfect but nothing taken for granted .
I believe we have to accept that it is within our power to show what CAN be done rather than just excuses for why we CANT make things happen. What is the alternative after 20 years in the doldrums ?No i believe there may be green shoots of real leadership at the top , and that they will have a fully prepared panel on hand to grasp the nettle which this poster has been rabbiting on about here for years. I assume you meant to write unaware rather than aware in your last sentence. Dont know what to believe on that one!

Yes unaware. It was a direct quote from from VC , published and spoken about in podcasts.. Thought it a bit odd. Also surely the review did not focus on management alone, hopefully it included everything to do with the Meath senior football setup within the the two years. If so then it is a very important report and should be a starting point for what's to come, if any section was over critical of an individual then it could be kept confidential, however, what were the learning's and recommendation's of the 8/10 week report. Keeping it hidden away serves no purpose.

I would have expected Flynn to be on Robbie Brennans team seeing as they've worked together with Kilmacud over the last 2 years and were together when Flynn was Meath 20s manager.

If you read the Irish independent over the last few weeks you would think Meath was a basket case , but nobody bought into it or bought the paper :)

I am happy to see so many names , actually I would be happy with any of the names mentioned getting the Meath job , all of them have experience being a on field.

Also I like the way the county board handle things over the last month or two , 10/10 for the county board , I believe this county board has genuine interest in Meath football , and for the players and the fans , which is great to see.

Was Rochford part of BF team that wanted position last time ? Reversed roles this time around. But as you say was linked with RB.

Two pieces of news regarding Meath today. Bad news for Meath long term is that the Irish news reported Eamonn Armstrong was in Australia in a group of 20+ lads doing trials for AFL teams. From a selfish point of view would be a disaster to see him leaving. Then as said on Newstalk on here rumours of Stephen Rochford going for the Meath manager position. If true it would be fantastic news, meets the criteria Jason Plunkett was saying about prior inter county experience and would give credence to them going outside the two nominations the clubs gave. Would be a brilliant appointment if it is true

Bernard Flynn has tweeted that but then had to delete it and Rochford's name was on Kevin McStay's ticket at that point so I think it was very unlikely that Rochford would have been on Bernard Flynn's ticket given that he was also on McStay's ticket that got the job in Mayo

Yes your last paragraph i agree with ,where the CB lead and take charge is encouraging.. Excuses will be less welcome . That ATTITUDE is just what we needed .We live in hope as usual.Time will tell !!
