I've gone through each group, and I've put together the permutation on what each team needs to do to qualify in the final round of fixtures.

Head to head for 2 teams tied, score difference if there's 3 teams involved.

Group A:
Meath Hill: All but assured a quarterfinal spot, avoiding defeat guarantees them topping the table. Even if they lose to Blackhall Gaels, they have a sizeable +12 point score difference, and would only go out should Bective beat Nobber by a big score, and BG beat Meath Hill by a large margain.

Blackhall Gaels: They will qualify should they beat Meath Hill and Bective lose to Nobber. Should both Bective and BH win, Blackhall Gaels will only go out if Bective better their result by 5 points.

Bective: Should progress with a win assuming BG don't beat Meath Hill. They would likely come out on the wrong side of a 3 way score difference tie should that happen so they need to win. They can progress with a loss if score difference goes their way.

Nobber have a very very slim chance of making it, they'd have to beat Bective and overturn a large score difference, whilst hoping Meath Hill beat BG.

There's a 3 way tie possibility for the 2nd spot, but that simply comes down to score difference.
Meath Hill & Bective most likely to progress with wins

Group B:
Ballivor all but guaranteed to progress in top spot, they own the head to head over Castletown who are likely to rival them at the top, and have a good score difference thanks to their win over Longwood. Should they lose, the score difference should see them progress in a 3 way tie.

Castletown: They will progress should the beat Longwood and Ballivor beat Duleek Bellewstown. They will also progress even if Duleek beat Ballivor and Castletown match their result thanks to better score difference. They can also progress if they lose as long as Duleek also lose by the same or a worse margain.

Duleek Bellewstown: They need to beat Ballivor and hope Castletown either lose to Longwood, or if both teams win and Duleek beat Ballivor by 2 points more than Castletown beat Longwood by.

Longwood: Very slim chance of making it, they need to beat Castletown by a good margain as their score difference is -14, and hope that Ballivor also beat Duleek to force a 3 way tie.

Ballivor & Castletown most likely to qualify

Group C:
Very straight forward, Oldcastle and Moynalvey have already qualifed and will meet in round 3 to determine who tops the group. Moynalvey need to win to top the group, a draw or better sees Oldcastle through.

Moynalvey and Oldcastle already qualified

Group D:
Kilbride: A win or draw guarantees top spot. They will still likely progress even if they lose to NOM as they have a +9 score difference, but Walterstown -1 and NOM +2 could easily cruelly oust them on the final day with wins forcing a score difference tie breaker. But they should be safe.

Navan O'Mahonys: They will only progress with a win, and can only be eliminated if Walterstown also win by 3 points more than NOM beat Kilbride by. I believe it goes to points scores if the score difference is a tie, and Walterstown would win that tiebreaker assuming they win. They can quality with a loss, but would need St Michael's to beat Walterstown. Hard to guess 3 way tie breaker score difference in that situation, but possible.

Walterstown: A win guaranteed qualification should NOM fail to win. If themselves and NOM win, it will come down to a 3 way tie breaker, and Walterstown need to overturn a score difference. So need to better NOM's win by at least 3 points. Should they lose, qualification depends on NOM losing to Kilbride but again score difference rules will come into play.

Very hard to call here as lots of permutations, but Kilbride & Walterstown look best placed to go through.

In regards to group D if walterstowns win , o Mahonys have to win by 7 points or more because the score difference will only be for the 3 teams that are level on points so the score difference from Michaels game will be excluded ,

Yeah sorry completely missed them, only spotted after I posted.

They can go through with a win over Walterstown as long as Kilbride beat NOM and there's a score difference swing. Big ask tho, they're -10 at the minute so would need to win by 5/6 points, and hope NOM lose by a similar margin.

What a weekend of Championship and with one round left three of the groups are all still to be fully decided. St Pats last years semi finalist are out and Duleek/Bellewstown beaten finalist last two years are hanging on, just and the once big Guns of Meath football Navan O'Mahony's failing to put together a full 60 minutes of dominance could also find themselves in another regulation depending on results in group D, What a Championship this Intermediate is serving up.

Moynalvey, many peoples favourites just doing enough and maybe they are building nicely and will get stronger. Both North Meath club are both motoring nicely and are all but through but Oldcastle weren't really convincing in there last round and maybe Drumbarragh has shown how you can beat a well fancied team for final honours.

All of the above would fancy a qtr. final spot against group A runners up which is looking likely to be Bective having reversed the league result against a disappointing Blackhall Gaels team the last day.

Castletown are bounced back after been caught on the line the first day and its going to be top billing when they take on Dul/Bell the next day when winner takes all. Ballivor are most likely to join them but could the demands of championship week in week out take its toll on a lot of the duel players or could Longwood still have a say, all to play for but Castletown appears to have bounced back and

Who have though that Kilbride will take on O'Mahony's knowing a win would knock them out, that itself is a massive carrot. Walterstown's destiny is in there own hands and a big win over an under performing Michaels team see them through. Kilbride could do Michaels a favour if they beat NOM and they can over come Walterstown. Still all to play for but Kilbride are in the driving seat because of there score difference.

Is it worth mentioning that dual players/Clubs are struggling especially in smaller areas. Its hard to keep going week in week out. Its been talked about at Intercounty and the condensed season forcing you to play every week. Just putting it out there. Is the day of the dual player coming to an end at club.

Likely quarter finalists for me. Group A, Meath Hill & Bective. Group B, Ballivor & Castletown. Group C ,Moynalvey & Oldcastle. Group D, Kilbride & Walterstown.

So from what I gather is if Micks, Nom and Walterstown finish on 2 points each that would mean Kilbride beat NOM, The Micks would need to beat Walterstown by 11 or 12? not sure exactly but it's either 11 or 12 to go through in second place but anything short of that would mean NOM go through.

Very hard to call here as lots of permutations, but Kilbride & Walterstown look best placed to go through."
Does anyone know if micks, walterstown and navan finish on 2 points each what way does the score difference work. Is it there overall score difference or just there score difference against the other 2 teams?"
So from what I gather is if Micks, Nom and Walterstown finish on 2 points each that would mean Kilbride beat NOM, The Micks would need to beat Walterstown by 11 or 12? not sure exactly but it's either 11 or 12 to go through in second place but anything short of that would mean NOM go through."]Assuming all 3 end on 2pts then Score difference is only amongst them 3 team kilbride games wont count.
As it stands amongst those 3

anyone else thing the newish format of 4 groups of 4 is a brilliant addition to the championship? every game so cut throat from day 1 and dosent drag out too long, only tweak id make would be the team that finshes third in group should be safe and get a reward for winning or drawing a match over a team that got nil points. most teams that finshed third in the groups i think next weekwnd would take your hand off if you said thats you safe in your grade for next year, but its also your last match of the year. i think most players would be happy out and not want relegation play off games. after all it would be september at that stage and being traing since mid february

So Micks need to beat Walterstown by 12 to go ahead of Navan on points difference.
If Micks beat Walterstown by four or less, Walterstown go through. Navan go through if Micks win by between six and 10. I am not sure what happens with a tie in score differences."]Tie of score different usually means they'll go to who scored the most, if that's a tie, who conceded the least etc.. it's starts to get a bit muddy after that if there's still a tie.

At the minute
Michael's -10
Walterstown -1
NOM +2

So Michael's need to to beat Walterstown and complete a 12 point swing with NOM.

So they need a good win and hope that Kilbride beat NOM"]I watched the Kilbride Walterstown game - Walterstown got off to a great start and initially I thought they were going to un away with it but after about 15 minutes Kilbride got on top - and they dominated in the middle with Walterstown struggling to get their kick outs away.
Kilbride looked really good - fast young forward unit and tehy were well deserving of their win - it could have been bigger to be honest!
The Kilbride v NOM game should be a good one and it's a hard one to call - but I think what I saw of Kilbride would lean me to them.
I can't see Michaels beating Walterstown though!"]"The Kilbride v NOM game should be a good one and it's a hard one to call - but I think what I saw of Kilbride would lean me to them.

Looks like you got it wrong mate!"]I sure did! And some others too !! bad weekend of call from me!

Bective v O'Mahonys
A navan derby (ish) , Bective probably fortunate to be here off the basis of being in a weak enough group. Navan started off bad but rattled two good wins on the trout to advance. Aodhan Mallon a real stand out for this team over the last few years and I believe him, Oisin o brien and Duggie Dillion will have to much for this Bective side.
NOM by 5

Ballivor v Oldcastle
Oldcastle after a huge win against a Moynalvey side which were all ready through, score line may flatter oldcastle a small bit but still looked impressive. Ballivor lost but still made it through. Brendan McKeon is a very stylish footballer and could cause oldcastle trouble. Brian o hollaran anther key player for the "hurling club" will line out in the middle but drop back to be a plus 1 , regardless I suspect oldcastle with Cj healy and Scully running the attack and with garrigan making driving runs from corner back will be to much for Ballivor, However believe Ballivor will get a lot closer than people suspect
Oldcastle by 3

Moynalvey v Castletown
Predict this to be a close encounter in Dunshaughlin , Castletown back boned by 3 Meath 20s and Kevin Ross will fancy their chances after Moynalvey's terrible result against Oldcastle. I predict Moynalvey will fall over the line here with Harnan dominating the middle of the park.
Moynalvey by 2

Meath Hill v Kilbride
Admittedly have only seen Meath hill once
This year , and had by far the easiest group but did all they had to do in comfortable manner , just a very balanced team with no weaknesses and a good goal keeper who has the ability to kick frees if needed.
Kilbride very poor against navan and might just be a year early for the junior champions.

Meath Hill's biggest weakness is their discipline, 3 red cards in the group stages, they got another stupid red in the 1/4 final last year when Duleek went on to beat them by a point. They are their own worst enemies and if they can hold it together, they have a real shot of winning this outright. But they just seem to lose their heads when it matters

Agree with your other predictions, wouldn't be surprised if Castletown ousted Moynalvey though. They've been so up and down, and Oldcastle really ran through them.

But would expect a last 4 of Meath Hill, Oldcastle, Moynalvey and Navan O'Mahony's

Exactly. If not mistaken isn't Ballivor a football club only and a strong one at that.

Looking at the fixtures, yes Oldcastle moving well but expect competition to up a notch in knockouts. Not sure how Oldcastle would perform in knockout stages in tight games. They seem to be the sort of team that plays well when on top in a loose game so time will tell.

It must be said that there is a huge step up from intermediate to senior and while there are a few weaker teams in senior there are 10 or 11 very strong clubs. Intermediate and Junior A seem to be more closely aligned.

Kilbride have done well this year and it looks like they were missing some of there better players against NOM so expect them to really put it up to an untested Meath Hill side.

Ballivor is the default football club for a some of the hurling clubs in the area that don't have football teams. The likes of Kildalkey hurlers would play football for Ballivor, and some of their best players are hurlers first. So I guess that's where it comes from
