We have a manager. I'm happy it's a Meath man, delighted it's Colm he always wanted the job and has wanted to help Meath football.

On the button Brian.

There are plenty of splits in the county, but this tripe that its down to North Meath gaels is rubbish. Thats the sort of midset that stops the real issues getting resolved. Like kids pointing the finger over and back, its them, not its the others...

not an O Rourke fan on a personal level...but by far The Best choice of all the names mentioned here over the last number of weeks . Shows guts & most of all, shows his passion for the County.. He has a lot to loose ...and that sacrifice is commendable. Equally..he more than most..knows the problems he faces...so Well Done Colm, and I wish you all the best in the endeavour

Exactly Jinixe, I'm born and bred Kells and I couldn't care where a lad or girl is from, so long as they want to pull on the Meath jersey they have my support.

So it's Colm O'Rourke. Have to say there's a massive sigh of relief that it isn't Bernard Flynn. Colm is probably the biggest playing legend in the history of Meath football. And while I took long announcing it the day after the county season finishes seems like this was done and just delayed because of Colm's wishes. I also like Bray being involved hopefully he is working with forwards. I've always thought Barry Callaghan's underage teams seemed fairly well coached but I meant fully sure he is the man to be the clear coach for the team. Would like one more established coach announced and also word on the S&C situation with Niall Ronan gone. Eivers done great work with the ladies and Donegal would be fantastic to get him involved. But all in all a positive appointment

Huge congrats to COR,, had to wait a long time, but better late than never. Best of luck to himself, Stephen Bray, Barry O Callaghan and rest of backroom team.

Lads and ladies, I'm not going to get excited or celebrate just yet. I'm delighted to hear that Colm has been recommended but you never know what the county board might do. They might not accept the recommendation based on the costs of what Colm will be proposing. There's also the lack of a top class coach on the ticket right now. I've no doubt that Colm could attract one in so I'm not going to run down things based off that. Also looks to be an element of succession planning in place with Callaghan being one of his selectors

Good point, never know what CB could do, however, the delay hopefully indicates details have been trashed out to suit all concerned. Last thing Meath football needs is more self inflicted damage. Experienced enough to realise a good coach is essential for intercounty football.

If this isn't ratified it would eclipse the shameful farce that was the treatment of Eamonn O'Brien and put us back another 10 years, I don't expect that to happen. Colm deserves huge respect for sacrificing his current roles to manage Meath at this stage of his life, I'm delighted with his appointment and also that some of the things he had asked for before, in terms of underage, development squads etc, will most likely be put in place as there is a bigger picture than just the senior team

Go away, jeez I'd never doubt you Joe and would be a great piece of news if true.

If reports of Donie Buckley as well as coach then I'd have to commend the county board and committee on the work they've done.

Delighted for Colm. I just hope that he doesn't carry the mindset that Leinster in unimportant or Dublin can't be beaten in the near future. I wish him and his back room team all the success in the world. Time for a new beginning in Meath football. Clean slate and let's all get behind the team. Roll on January.

Not a hope anything goes wrong here Brian. Thankfully for once where this CB is concerned his ratification is just a formality tonight. He will 100% be the next Meath manager

It's all done won't be any shenanigans this year from CB. In terms of coaches eamonn fitz I have on good authority is his #2 and as I said early maybe Buckley too. Credit where credits sue if they pull it off

That is a big coup if true.Would make sense fitzmaurice wouldn't have to be at every training session so wouldn't be travelling up and down all the time.He is very knowledgeable guy who knows his stuff and with o Rourke s passion and knowledge of Meath football and Bray and Callahan also working with the forwards it looks promising. You would imagine every player in the county would be chomping at the bit to play for the management team? The best of luck to them if it's true.

Once bitten, twice shy, but looking at everything that's being put in place, and ratification being a formality, you'd have to say that's great work by the county board and Committee. You can fully understand why they've been as tight lipped and played their cards so close to their chests.

O'Rourke, Fitzmaurice, Bray and Callaghan
Buckley and Eivers

That's a top class management and coaching ticket, Bray and Callaghan have time to soak up everything they can from it, Fitzmaurice can assist with the defence, and it's really putting it on the players now to perform. They can't have any excuses if that's what they have looking after them.
