Friday September 5th

After two cancellations Group A of the Junior Football Championship concluded last night.

Goals from Matthew Tully and Francis Marry helped Slane to a seven point win over last year’s finalists St. Vincents at Duleek. Martin Barrett’s men qualify for the semi final. Over in Castletown Nobber picked up their first win and sent Syddan to a relegation semi final.

Sunday August 31st

A day of drama. A two pointer after the hooter from Cormac Sheehy gave Meath Hill their first ever win in senior championship football. It also ment that Rathkenny who were in the hat for Monday night quarter final up until then were out and the Keegan Cup holders were back in the race despite a defeat to unbeaten Trim.

Gaeil Colmcille suffered a second defeat in a row and will have to face the relegation battle. Summerhill despite a two point loss to Skryne advance by the narrowest of score margins to the quarter final.

Ballinlough made it three wins from three and advance to the JFC semi finals along with Dunderry from Group B.

Ratoath top Group B, the Bracks take second spot, Seneschalstown season is over, St. Colmcilles turn their attention to a relegation semi final. Wolfe Tones make it three from three and advance along with Donaghmore Ashbourne, relegation troubles for Simonstown. 

Moynalvey top Group A, Walterstown are save, last years semi finalists Ballivor head for the relegation semi finals. Kilbride maintain their 100% record and are joined by last years JFC winners Dunsany in the quarter finals.

Clann na nGael and Peadar Byrne’s Moylagh advance in the Junior championship.

Friday August 29th

Goals from Declan Cribben and Killian Price were crucial as Castletown made up for last year’s semi final defeat with six points to spare against O’Mahony’s at Simonstown. After a disappointing group stage the Hoops now face a relegation semi final. Over in Ashbourne St. Michaels recovered from a heavy second round loss to beat Duleek Bellewstown and reach the knockout stages. The Carlanstown/Kilbeg outfit led 0-13 to 1-4 at the break.

Thursday August 28th

Group B of the provided the first of the dramatic conclusions last night. Longwood looked to have both points ins the bag at Paddy O’Brien Park until Pat Crawley stepped up with a late late two pointer to earn Oldcastle a draw and top the group. Drumbaragh qualified for the knockout stages for the first time in the club’s history with two points to spare over a battling Curraha at Castletown.
