Kerry opened their Munster U20FC defence with a comfortable 2-19 to 1-10 victory over Tipperary in New Inn last evening.
Tomás Kennedy and Daniel Kirby scored 1-4 and 1-3 respectively as the Kingdom eased past a wasteful home side. Kennedy netted early before JP Mbokha Tansia had a goal disallowed for 'square ball' at the other end. Kennedy slotted over four points, including two marks, to leave Tomás Ó Se's men perched on a 1-9 to 0-4 interval lead.
Ben Carey got a goal back for Tipp in the 47th minute to reduce the deficit to six points, only for Kerry to finish strongly with three points from Paddy Lane and a second green flag from Kirby.
In Quilty, Cork had to work hard for their 3-16 to 1-13 victory over a Clare side who had already played three games in Phase 1 of the competition.
