Try the Michael Murphy Sports Facebook page. The Tyrone game was live streamed on that, the quality isn't top notch but it's better than nothing. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 29/03/2017 11:55:02 1972697 Link 3 |
The Gaa decision making system is absolutely ridiculous. Supporters making sacrifices in respect of work & driving to enniskillen to discover game called off 25 mins before throw in !!! 3 wks after similar fiasco in Omagh. Surely protocols have to be introduced & some consideration for supporters. bond (Longford) - Posts: 174 - 29/03/2017 21:34:12 1972947 Link 2 |
ridiculous like people finishing work early or whatever and people actually in the stadium payed in and all and find out that the games called off....surely they knew during the day like it just didnt fall in the space of 5 mins...Gaa should be ashamed of themselves

I think lads there was relentless torrential rain in a very short time period. I got to the town at about half 5 and was heavy heavy rain for 2 hours. Cleared up then a bit around quarter past/half 7 so hard to legislate for that.

Yep, what a waste of an evening! 25 mins before throw in shows what the GAA think of their players and punters. Anyone know when the Ulster final is scheduled for. I can only assume it's Saturday week, other wise Ulster Champions will be in the same situation we found ourselves in back in 2011, playing an AI semi 3 days after winning Ulster.

Walked into Brewster at 19:30 as the very first supporters were walking out. Can they not make the decision without the ref earlier if a pitch is playable or not!!! Rushed from Dublin for the game. What a waste of energy and time. cavan97 (Cavan) - Posts: 369 - 30/03/2017 08:21:48 1973010 Link 1 |
Unbelievable how they can't call a game off 2/3 hours before start time. Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 30/03/2017 10:24:26 1973040 Link 1 |
Would be interesting to get Sean O Rinn's take on this. Cavan fans have been let down with late decisions this year. Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 30/03/2017 11:47:48 1973079 Link 0 |
In fairness the torrential rain only started 2 hours before the game so 5.30/6 it was still playable. CR7 (Cavan) - Posts: 125 - 31/03/2017 14:57:55 1973578 Link 0 |
Was in Enniskillen and just as i sat down the announcement was made. Sickening. fatkeeper (Dublin) - Posts: 316 - 31/03/2017 23:52:12 1973725 Link 0 |
Conor Bradley has been home from France since the Thursday before the semi-final and I see he was listed to start at no.11 ahead of Thomas Edward. A bit of a surprising call. ryan (Donegal) - Posts: 747 - 02/04/2017 10:21:04 1974012 Link 0 |
Why a surprise. Was training away in France, is in good shape and is a top class footballer.

He was the Senior Club Player of the year in 2016. Captained the Minors 3 years ago. Hardly a surprise to see him starting even if he is studying abroad. Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 04/04/2017 17:58:40 1975594 Link 0 |
Of course its a surprise. Hasnt kicked a ball all year for the u21s and then he lands back to start in championship. How do you think the rest of the squad feel? Not good for morale!

ehhhh .......he kicked two points against Fermanagh the last day and as regards morale, any player 'commuting' from France to play shows a serious level of commitment!!

Would be interesting to get Sean O Rinn's take on this. Cavan fans have been let down with late decisions this year. Sean - do you think it should be clear earlier on, even allowing for a lot of rainfall later on? Reformation (Cavan) - Posts:271 - 30/03/2017 11:47:48 1973079 Yes The groundsman's word has no say but I do agree it's very strange that a referee has more knowledge than him. I suppose to become a referee you have to be knowledgeable in that area of ground conditions. I will tell you in my experience I alway's keep the county board aware about the conditions and I let them know if there is a possibility that a match might be in danger because of the conditions. Last week Breiffni park could have taken both matches as it was bone dry here but up north it was bad I am led to believe. Just in fairness to any venue if it rains for an hour non stop from what I was told it came down like a torrential down pore. Remember we had the same here in Cavan but prior to it we had some heavy rain and I kept the treasurer the secretary and the chairman up to date as to how the conditions were improving or deteriorating. It's hard on the punter for sure as they have to travel and it cost's. I hope that helps. I am only 21 years doing the pitch on my own so still a novice 40 years in total for I helped my Brother in Law for 19 years previous to taking it on myself. . It's all Health and Safety now. I've been talking to a friend of mine in donegal and its no exaggeration to say Donegal think they have it wrapped up. Lets wait and see what happens. I've also been talking to a few of the cavan lads and they seem very upbeat so going on that ill say a cavan win. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 05/04/2017 17:08:14 1976087 Link 0 |
Yeah its odd as Donegal are usually a fairly modest Bunch of supporters. There displaying an arrogance one would associate with our nearest and dearest neighbour. Let's hope it's unfounded.

Cant get to the game this evening, highland radio only doing updates. Do any of you Cavan lads know if your local radio, Northern Sound?, is broadcasting the full game?. HEREBENJI (Donegal) - Posts: 431 - 05/04/2017 18:44:02 1976125 Link 0 |
