I am annoyed that Cavan County Board are not allowing people buy the club plus ticket this year one of only two counties to do this. Not everybody wants to join Club Breffni and the option for the club plus should be available to loyal Cavan supporters just like other counties. marita (None) - Posts: 468 - 11/10/2016 14:01:06 1924913 Link 0 |
I totally agree with you Marita they want to stick the boot in everywhere to get cash of the most loyal supporters and after 1 year they will not allow the loyal supporters purchase The Club + while 30 other counties do. They should come out publicly and explain their reasoning, I see this as a masterstroke in negative PR or shooting themselves in the foot. By the way any sign of a price reduction for the 2 replays surely they will follow the trend at national level after taking in around 200k at the Intermediate and Senior drawn matches. Should be a double header at €10 a ticket on Saturday, under 16s free, students and OAPs €5, market it properly and you could see 20k in attendance

I think an intermediate senior double header would have been a good idea. marita (None) - Posts: 468 - 11/10/2016 19:45:10 1925081 Link 0 |
Reading the front page of The Anglo Celt today gate receipts for the Intermediate AND Senior Finals came in to €77,000. General admission was €15 to each match while the covered stand was €20 for the senior Final, Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts: 473 - 12/10/2016 08:43:45 1925226 Link 0 |
Reading the front page of The Anglo Celt today gate receipts for the Intermediate AND Senior Finals came in to €77,000. General admission was €15 to each match while the covered stand was €20 for the senior Final, Does anyone know what is the capacity of the covered stand? The attendance at the Senior Final was 8,600 I didn't hear a figure for The Intermediate Final but I would think it must have been around 5,000. I don't think there was any reduction on the covered stand so 2,000 people on it alone would bring in €40,000.00. It just does not seem to add up, am I missing something. Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts:270 - 12/10/2016 08:43:45 1925226 The figures you read include everyone that went through the turnstiles it does not give you a true reflection on paying customers. All Club Breifni members were free plus they had one free ticket. For the intermediate match there was no need to have a ticket and 2/3 of it was full off children facts. It would be great if that kind of revenue was being turned over but sadly not the case. THe Anglo posted the figures for all and not just for paying customers. 3800 approx for the Intermediate match not 5000 The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 12/10/2016 11:06:13 1925269 Link 0 |
It still seems amazing that LESS THAN 5,000 people PAID between both days, and 7,400 did NOT pay if your figure of 3,800 is correct for the Intermediate attendance.

I like you cannot say how many paid but there are costs to running these events it's not all take take take. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 12/10/2016 11:59:40 1925302 Link 0 |
The Anglo Celt says the combined receipts for both Intermediate and Senior Final were approximately €77,000.00 I would take this to mean what was taken in and not including expenses, I don't know how others would interpret this.

Breffnibest I can tell you the figure for the Senior Final was 8,600. These were the figures that clocked up on the turnstiles regardless if you were a paying customer or not. Over each turnstile wheel is a lever it only clicks when a punter rotates it and it cannot distinguish if you paid or not. So please listen to what I am saying there were approximately 8600 went through the turnstiles but many were under16 or people with passes like club breifni or even referees ect. If I was responsible for showing the correct returns I would set up a turnstile for non paying punters like Club Breifni and special complementary passes. A separate turnstile for referees and a turnstile for children and U16 I can tell you that the figure that the Celt posted would be a fraction of 8600 for paying customers. Believe me I have nothing to gain by defending anyone. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 12/10/2016 13:47:15 1925352 Link 0 |

Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts:272 - 12/10/2016 13:03:13 1925337 Ok the figure is what they posted and ink will not refuse ink you know that off course. Every person did not pay as you know all under 16 were free and I think Old age pensioners and students were less. But as usual the figure is based on the price they see in front of them what was it €15 a head so 5133 x 15 = €77000 but you know that it was not €15 for everyone for as I said old age pensioners and students with their identification were less. If every person had to pay to cross the turnstiles the gate receipts would far exceed €100000 even at €10 euro a head maybe that might be the way to get a true reflection of how many and how much gate receipts were taken over the day's. I know that a lotta people paid €20 last Sunday take that and Breffni Youth Board draw and a programme a fair few quid before you take your seat and the same again on Sunday. By the way they ran out of programmes last Sunday and it was not Under 16's who were buying them. Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts: 473 - 13/10/2016 08:45:09 1925588 Link 0 |
Getting back to the point that this thread started on "Season Ticket" I am sure that G.A.A. added The Club + option to your Season Ticket to reward loyalty as the County Season Ticket already does. Cavan County Board participated in 2016 but now they have withdrawn for 2017 I wonder what were their reasons as far as I am aware most counties are participating. Croke Park should make it compulsory for every county to offer the Club + along with The Season each County Board gets €100 up front at the beginning of the season. Is this not enough for Cavan County Board or what are the reasons for pulling out. Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts: 473 - 13/10/2016 10:45:41 1925627 Link 0 |
Liam Mc Cabe told a caller to the office that the reason Cavan didn't have the club plus is because it was affecting club Breffni. Most counties have a similar club set up so how come they didn't pull out of it ? Cavan County Board too greedy marita (None) - Posts: 468 - 13/10/2016 23:39:45 1925979 Link 0 |
For county senior final last Sunday club+ didn't even qualify for seat in covered stand where we sit all year when stand is half empty for club and county games. We all can't afford club Breifne.

Aiddel (Cavan) - Posts:16 - 14/10/2016 08:28:46 19 The stand was at your disposal to purchase until all seats were gone, common sense will tell you that it's one person per seat, it's the same at any county pitch when the covered stand is full it's full. One would think there are thousands in Club Breffni I am one of them and I think there are just over 200 members. So can you please tell me what is your argument ? for the stand holds a lot more than 200 people. You are aware that the funds from Club Breifni go towards the seniors and not into anyones pocket, one would think the county board were on the make from it. When it comes to the McKenna cup Ulster championship and the National league the club Breifni pass is of no value so members that go to these matches have to pay like you and others and hope they get a stand ticket should they want one. I was in the office the other day when a club called Liam McCabe about tickets and they booked one full row no problems. So maybe if you want stand tickets why not call in time and do what that club did. I think thats easy don't you. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 14/10/2016 10:22:27 1926097 Link 0 |
Sean the club+ season ticket costs €200 and entitles ticket holder to county national league games and all club championship games. On senior county final day in Breifne the season ticket does not get you into stand for some reason. Only 2 out of 32 counties have not signed up to gaa club season ticket for next year, Cavan being 1 of them. There is no logical reason for Cavan gaa not signing up. Aiddel (Cavan) - Posts: 20 - 15/10/2016 09:57:27 1926415 Link 0 |
Aiddel , I take it maths and logic are not your forte. Consider this The Club+ ticket is €200 (according to posters here). How much of this gets to the Cavan County Board ? Club Breifne was in the region of €650+ in its first year but has dropped since I am not sure by how much but I would guess that it is significantly more than €200. CCB will know precisely how many Club Breifne members they lost to Club+. Whether you like it or not our County Treasurer's job is to maximise income while keeping control of costs. Have you considered that CCB have looked at the numbers and deduced that the Club + negatives outweigh the positives. rahanman (Cavan) - Posts: 127 - 15/10/2016 14:00:11 1926450 Link 0 |
Yes but the other 30 counties obviously think it's worth getting the 100 euro up front for the club plus or alternatively they value their loyal supporters a bit more. Many people who have season tickets are ordinary joe soaps who go to lots of club matches but may not have the means to pay 500 Quid to Club Breffni. Personally I think this is an own goal by County Board.
