I suppose that is to be expected"
I,d say they are first rate candidates, I'd be very happy if Cunningham, mcentee or Mcgleenan got it.

Have to question why the Galway hurlers ousted Cunningham after last seasons final?
He had 4 years done but they must not have been happy with him to continue.

That worked out well for them.

He has a great record at club football level and I heard very positive stuff from Laois camp.

The papers are suggesting today that Cunningham has pulled out of the race. Outside of the County Board does anyone really know where things stand.

Cunningham would be a huge step in the wrong direction. Fine to get a team fit, tactically not at the races.

Would disagree would love him involved with Roscommon, Done a brilliant job with St.Brigids and then went and got an average Garrycastle side to win a Leinster and contest All Ireland final

Well done to Cornafean on a great win on Sunday. They played a nice brand of football and were deserving winners.
Hope that the intermediate and Senior finals will be as entertaining

won't be hard to be as entertaining as junior final. game over after 15. ballymachugh were v poor, cornafean done what they had to do in impressive fashion and all credit to them. good young team but probably at their limits winning junior. will be competitive at intermediate but wont challenge for titles.

Big Sam could be an inspired choice as he has a great record with teams who would be fighting a relegation battle..!!!!!

Cunningham more then likely in for the Clare Hurling job, McGleenan is the only one that has declared interest. Jack Sheedy linked, but he shouldn't even be considered.

No shouldn't be considered at all.

I've been to the last few years Cavan\Laois league matches and ye're a very good team. It's vital ye get the right manager at this stage. It'll be the difference between taking the next step or slipping back into a fairly large pack.

Being from my neck of the woods i don't know too much about McGleenan.

It would be great to see Cavan challenge for the major honours again. I played football with Ronan Carolan in college. An absolute gentleman and great ambassador for your county.

I find it strange that there has been no appointment yet after such a long time !! I would have thought it would have been imperative to get a man in quickly to see the local championships and Senior in particular.
This got me thinking, are they waiting till somebody becomes available ??
Maybe that person is involved with either of the All Ireland finalists?
So could that man be Tony Mc Entee now involved with Mayo. I really believe this, and if it is, then I think he would be a great capture.
He would command respect and he had Crossmaglen playing great football a couple of years ago. Travel really wouldent be an issue from South Armagh and a lot handier than to Mayo !! He has obviously put a bit of steel into Mayo and maybe this is what Cavan needs. By the way I see Justin Mc Nulty is involved with Castlerahan and this could be another pointer.
Some of the names being tossed around would be a disaster like Sheedy etc.
Of the other names I would like Pat Gilroy who again has been there and done that. Would also get the respect top managers need nowadays.
So looking forward to the next big announcement !!

It looks like a done deal and Tony McEntee will be announced as our new manager after Saturday night... I made a few inquiries about him from a couple of his previous clubs he managed and I must say he was not held in too high esteem... The term " Couldn't train Ivey up a wall " was used but this may only be sour grapes from a club who would win nothing no matter who managed them... In my view club management and managing a County team is totally different... I believe he would be an excellent appointment and way ahead of any of the other names mentioned... Roll on next week

Mcentee did have Crossmaglen playing good football, though he was joint manager. He managed St Brigid's in Dublin for 2 years, didn't make the impact they were hoping.

Gilroy ruled himself out of the job.

I happened to be in a mad Cavan Football house yesterday and as you would expect the topics discussed were the All Ireland Final and a new Cavan manager. I couldn't believe that Cavan have only won 1 Ulster since their last All Ireland which was the year after Mayo last won All Ireland but Mayo have appeared in many more All Irelands. - Did someone put a curse on that Cavan Team????? Secondly only 1 outside manager has managed a team to win An All Ireland, so the over all consensuses - Cavan should appoint an internal manager, they have done well under Terry and I am sure someone within the County has the vision and passion to take on the job. Big names don't necessary bring success and this is something the County Board should be mindful of. A big name manager can leave the county poor of pocket and in a worse position than before he was appointed, just look over the border into Meath and or to the strong hold of hurling that is Kildare -both know about high profile managers doing more harm than good and taking years to get back to were they were before the managerial appointment.
