Terry's Tenure

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

For the record...Nearly 5 years in charge of the Cavan Senior Football Team, and all he won was TWO Ulster Senior Championship matches.

Yes, two league promotions, but no silverware, and in reality, who really takes the league that seriously? Majority of teams use the league for bedding in new players or looking at prospective players, whilst Terry had a full strength squad to chose from.

In essence, his tenure was a failure, given his failings in Ulster and the Qualifiers. He got it wrong far too often in the big matches.

What has me managing a club team got to do with this post?

I've played for both Club and County, and have been involved in management, so, I think I know the difference between success and failure, and in my opinion, if a manager was in charge of any GAA team, then two Provincial Championship wins in 5 years is certainly not a success, in fact, is there any other manager in Ireland that has a worse record?

Brilliant, one last dig at the man. I'd seriously get yourself checked Dean.

Any chance of answering those two questions I've endlessly asked you?

Dean I would imagine that the reason you have been "involved" would be your lack of attention to detail.

Terry in fact won 3 Ulster Championship games. Armagh twice and Fermanagh. To put this in perspective Mickey Harte won just one more, 4, in the same period. Armagh won 1. Derry won 1. Down won 2. Fermanagh won 2. Antrim won 1.

Cavan were beaten by the eventual winners in 4 out of the 5 years.

Where's the dig?

Its a question to those people who claim his tenure to be successful...how can 2 Ulster Championship wins in 5 years be successful?

Where's the answers to my question Dean? We're getting close to double figures now on the number of times I've asked you. Or can we just concluded that you're a liar?

Apologies Skelling - was almost forgetting about you, over there in the good old US of A. What answer do you require again, I thought we had moved on, or has the Terry news brought great upset to you....at least you have the consolation of knowing that Terry brought the Cavan team to New York and achieved the honor of winning the Intercontinental World Series GAA Cup.

Now that the dust has settled on Terry's decision to call it a day i would like to register my sincere thanks for all the good work he has done over the past six years at both senior and under 21 level. The only way to judge a manager is to assess where things stood on the day when he took over and where things stood on the day of his departure.

Enjoy the break Terry and I trust that you will be back walking the line in the near future!

Mickey Harte won the Ulster title .. We would be happy with an Ulster final appearance for starters!

Well it would be more successful than present. We can barely win 2 Ulster championship games on the trot.

Sure didn't we win the Intercontinental World Series....and we beat the mighty London to get to an All Ireland Q/Final.....and we drew with Tyrone in this year in an Ulster Championship game...

You don't get to a quarter final winning just 1 match as smart as you think you are, armagh, Fermanagh, and Derry had to be beaten too .
