Fermanagh V Cavan

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

All of a sudden, 2 points against Fermanagh could have us sitting pretty in div 2 and should also secure div 2 status at the very least. It will not be easy though. Fermanagh will be up for this one for sure.

I think Cavan will win by 1 point in a tight affair. Thoughts?

Fermanagh have won the last 12 games at home and are high on confidence just as we are.
Brewster Park will hold no fears for us either as we are used to winning there.
Should be a great test for us and will let us know exactly where we are at.
It will be played like a Championship match.
Looking forward to it.

Just out of curiosity who are the last 12 teams to have played Fermanagh in Brewster Park?

well as I see it ....
league (div 3 and 2)
Wexford, offaly draw, louth, tipp, limerick, meath laois
then champ
Antrim x 2

that's 9 between league and championship

I know they beat Roscommon last year in an epic battle but apart from the visibly jaded Rossies I really dont think Cavan should look into this unbeaten spell too much..

Mostly teams we have struggled with over the years.

Going to be a lot tougher than the previous two games, and we won't be posting up big scores. I'd take a one point win all day. Fermanagh are a team very high on confidence and why wouldn't they be, they have a super forward line with Quigley and Corrigan, two players who would stake a claim in most teams, and a strong midfield. Yes, we have a good record against them, but they're a different outfit since McGrath took over. Remember they did last year what Cavan have failed to do in a long time - beat Roscommon in a big game.

I think we have a bit more quality than them, and should prevail on current form. But we've had false dawns before.

Brewster is a more tighter compact pitch to Breffni. Not as much room for Johnston and Co, but hopefully another 2pts.

To be honest I don't rate Quigley that highly. He gets all the headlines because he takes frees but from open play he is easily contained.
there is a big difference between himself and Conor Mcmanus. (who we would struggle to contain).

Am I wrong in suggesting that Cavan havent been beaten at any level minor senior or u-21 in Brewster Park since Donegal/Michael Murphy beat us in the Ulster final in 2010??

Fools gold. Is that correct on Gerry Smith. If so great news as he was the best player on those U21 teams he played on and then seemed to vanish. I'd love to see him in the senior setup. What injury has he?

An ankle injury. He got a bad knock on it last year when they were in New York.

It's mentioned in this week's Cent ..

Cavan will waltzs into Fortress Brewster Park on Saturday. Pop into the cinema at halftime for some sweet popcorn, demolish the Erne men with ease and stroll back to Cavan via Glangevlin for the cheapest pint of the black stuff in the land..
