Ned if they lose tonight it will be the players themselves not the pitch not the ref not the management. players have the ability now they need to believe in themselves and perform simple as that, they have the strongest panel of out field players in years so no excuses Big Big performance and hold the Tempers all up to the players . I do believe they will win this game asitis (Cavan) - Posts: 233 - 05/03/2016 14:13:52 1830952 Link 0 |

Nobody's saying the pitch isn't the same for both teams but obviously different teams thrive on different types of pitches. If you're big and physical a heavier sod won't be as tough to play on as it would be for a lighter side. It might not go so far as to be a deciding factor in a game but it's a factor nonetheless. erm...dear god..thats a bit of a scoreline. Don't care that its armagh, bad pitch, early in the year, league or whatever.. thats savage and i think a lot of us have been waiting for that for a while.. ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 544 - 05/03/2016 20:54:01 1831029 Link 0 |
Still the obsession with my posts Fred, goodness me but it's getting unhealthy, would you care to comment on yet another superb win for Cavan tonight? Any views on our excellent forward play? Any thoughts on how well SJ is doing for us? Were you even there? Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 05/03/2016 20:54:27 1831030 Link 0 |
That was a superb performance, the team is unrecognizable from the inconsistency we've seen over the last few years, and the driving force behind it is the infusion of the young lads, and the return of SJ who is in excellent form. We seem to have finally cast off the defensive negative philosophy which defined us for the past few years, and the energy and enthusiasm the likes of Faulkner, Moynagh, O'Connor, Argue are bringing is infectious for the older players. Great performance from 1 to 15. Goalkeeper great hands and kick out. Two corner backs on score board. Midfield done a lot of the dirty work giving Gearoid a platform to put in a motm performance. Seanie was class but hasn't won me over yet. Givney is getting really match sharp and as good a game as Argue has played for Cavan. Armagh are awful though. Also great to see Rory Dunne back and witb few more players to come back we will have a strong bench too. I'm not in the pro Terry or anti Terry camp just a Cavan supporter who goes to most matches. The crowd sizes are getting bigger. Fermanagh next. Win that and division 1 a strong possibility. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 06/03/2016 09:04:00 1831051 Link 0 |
sitting in brefni last night and i taught to myself this is the strongest team since 97.. I remember five or so years ago going to watch Cavan play Cork and they destroyed us in terrible conditions. Cork had these big powerful players that ran through us. We looked like a minor team in Comparison. But now we have Big powerful men up front Argue, McKiernan Givney and Keating to come back too. Then add in Johnstons class too. Its a very exciting time to be a cavan supporter. Credit has to go to Terry and Co on the line. Hes doing a fabulous job for Cavan football. Well done Sir. asdfg (Cavan) - Posts: 320 - 06/03/2016 10:13:13 1831056 Link 0 |
Yes the physicality in the forward line is a big help. It took Cavan until round 5 of the league last year to get their first goal, They have 5 scored after 4 rounds. All a big help if it comes down to score difference. Good to have Rory Dunne back, killian Clarke will likely play further out the field or maybe in midfield. Great win for Terry and the lads. Always nice to stick it to McGeeney and Armagh. Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 06/03/2016 15:19:17 1831148 Link 0 |

Great win for Cavan but why has it taken 3/4 years for Hyland to realise that we have players (forewords) who are good enough if the ball is given in quickly... We have wasted precious time on negative tactics that our players don't enjoy hence so many defections recently... We have very good defenders who can defend in their own right so let them do it... It may seem funny but defenders need just as much space to defend as fore wards need to attack..crowding a back line only leads to lazy defending and no outlet when in possession... Roll on more good days like these Sean66 (Cavan) - Posts: 440 - 06/03/2016 18:41:48 1831331 Link 0 |
It looks to me like Terry Hyland has learned a few lessons of late. Total blanket doesn't work. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 06/03/2016 19:10:55 1831351 Link 0 |

We shouldn't be looking past Fermanaghj. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 06/03/2016 20:39:31 1831438 Link 0 |
Congratulations to all again on another 2 points on the board. I think next week will give a good indication of where we're at. Fermanagh are a well organised team, disciplined and have total belief in their manager and give their all for him. They won't lie down. McGrath is a wily old dog and is sure to have something up his sleeve. They will be a tough nut to crack but a win there secures survival and if we get it we can then look forward to the last two games and let the shackles off. I think/hope that there is now too much competition in the panel for any lads to be going into matches complacent. There's a lot of jerseys up for grabs!
