Very winnable game, but going to be a tough affair, no love lost between us in recent years. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 29/02/2016 18:48:26 1829520 Link 0 |
We should win this. It's at home and last weeks win should give the team a lot of confidence. Nothing beats winning. Armagh will be out for a win too and have this game penciled in for two points. We will need to be on our game from the first minute and be clinical in front of goal. I can't see many changes from the team that started the other day in Navan. I think Armagh will want to lay down a marker for the championship. I think it's vital that we don't lose our composure . Hopefully the referee will be strong and come down hard on cynical fouls and dangerous play. We don't want to lose players through suspension and if we retaliate that's what will happen. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 02/03/2016 11:55:00 1830053 Link 0 |
3 of Cavans final 4 games are at home. Fermanagh away. Have to start making home advantage count.Ciaran McKeever hasn't played for Armagh yet in the legaue, must be still injured. One of their most phyical players.. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2832 - 02/03/2016 13:09:55 1830109 Link 0 |
My point about free taking & 45 s will come to play a big part here. We re better than Armagh but it won t be as open as the Meath Clash. It may take 18/19 players to get the formula in place to beat Armagh. Albeit they go for the juggler too. No blanket defence here.. Its gonna be a hard battle against Armagh. Apparently not that much could be taken away from last weekend as Meath were very poor. Still I feel we should be winning this game. Best of Luck to Cavan tomorrow night cavan97 (Cavan) - Posts: 369 - 04/03/2016 09:50:42 1830658 Link 0 |
What worries me about this game is that we are such big favourites to win IamADragon (Cavan) - Posts: 306 - 04/03/2016 11:12:57 1830693 Link 0 |
The difference between now and previous years is that we are far more consistent. whereas in previous years/regimes we could play really well one week and implode the next, now it's different. That doesn't mean we are going to win of course, because we are probably around the same level as Armagh but there shouldn't be any reason to think that just because we are favourites that phycologically we are destined to be adversely effected by that. I think if we do lose it will be because of things like Ref's decisions, poor discipline etc. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 04/03/2016 13:34:33 1830763 Link 0 |
Not sure if the inclusion of Buchanan and Gunner are forced changes or not but the two of them certainly bring a lot of physicality. This will be another brusing encounter and they will be hoping to rough us up. I was up at the McKenna cup game and they gave us a serious amount of free's and also kicked an awful lot of wides. i know this will sound ludicrous but i think the playing surface (or how we adopt to it)has a lot to do with how we perform at this time of year. i am not taking about the surface (not having a dig sean o rinn) but the speed ofthe pitch in breffini does not bring the best out in us. in the dogged affair i expect tomorrow night i think we will struggle to get anything out of the game (i am hope i am wrong) but if we where playing Armagh in Navan for example i think we would win with a bit to spare. toolbox (None) - Posts: 68 - 04/03/2016 16:28:42 1830822 Link 0 |
The feeling that the pitch in Breffni does us no favours has been around for a while and it seems the players feel it too. Whether there's anything to it, we can't say for sure, but even the idea of it among the squad isn't a good thing. What does Seanorinn think of the notion? The pitch is the same for both teams. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 04/03/2016 20:05:39 1830874 Link 0 |
Buchannan played very well against Armagh in the Mckenna cup. He also rubbed them up the wrong way. They didn't like his physical approach to the game . expect to see some sparks flying around midfield. However I do not want to see any red or black cards as that spoils the game (for both teams). I presume Niall Murray and Mackey will make appearances at some stage hopefully to kepp the pressure on with about 20 - 25 to go. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 04/03/2016 21:06:13 1830887 Link 0 |
