why, sure you keep telling us that management is the issue, not the players!

I couldn't see him going from managing a team to multiple All Irelands to taking over one that struggles in the Taltainn Cup ….. Can you…?

I think you're right.

Hard luck to Down in the Tailteann. Like us last year, were in Division 3 which didn't suit, and will need to get promoted to get Sam football for next year. Semi final thrashing didn't do much for them. Jeez, but they weren't great and big open pitch showed how they could be got at. Hard to say, but well done Meath. And on a purely selfish basis, even though we love to hate our dear neighbours, it suits us better that the Tailteann winners are in Division 2 with us next year. Less chances of missing out like Meath themselves did finishing 6th there.

Meath had the tactics right unlike Cavan.

That's what happens when you have a decent management set up…. Meath played go forward football at all times and had very little lateral or backwards passing…. even in the last couple of minutes with the game still in the balance they wanted to attack and get more scores which they did… The penny never dropped with our genius's to adopt this approach..!

We are not good enough to play in the All Ireland series.

Cavan allowed to build from deep with short kickouts. Down have a lot of pace but not a big team. Meath have a lot of 6f plus players and pushed up on Down and cleaned them with Jack Flynn excellent

And were Westmeath, Sligo, Louth etc this season? There's 16 teams, and if we stay up next season then we will be. It's that simple

Yeah lovely to get a hammering like Louth got against Kerry or Sligo got against Dublin. Will you wise up. Tailteann cup our level . Only be making fools of ourselves on Nation TV playing in All Ireland Series. Your a dreamer!

With 16 teams in the Sam Maguire there is bound to be at least 6/7 that would find it difficult enough to win the Taltainn Cup…. It would be nice to have won the Taltainn Cup and got in that way but staying in Division 2 is just as important so we would qualify regardless…. We will have to wait and see

If we stay in Division 2, we deserve to be in Sam. It's that simpler. You can't have it every way - complaining we're down the divisions, then complaining we're up there and getting into Sam when that's a route to get in. We need to be playing the better teams. Wise up

Louth got a hammering after they went flat out attacking Kerry and didn't set themselves up properly. That's bad tactics. Sligo simply not good enough and got in due to the quirk with the Connacht draw which will not happen next season

Make up your mind, you keep saying the problem was the manager not the team!

I'm in no rush for us to start playing in the All Ireland series until we start playing proper football.
I've no problem getting beat either it's the manner in how we get beat that annoys me.
We need to start having a go at teams that's at our level. I'm not talking about all out attack on teams like Kerry but teams like Down, London, Antrim ect I'd be expecting to have a proper go at them and that didn't happen this year.
Until then we are going nowhere.

We play it by getting up there. What's your limit? 2 years? 5 years? We simply need to get back there and get back exposed to top teams. We were fit to rise up and get to Division 1 a few times in 17 and 19 and we could compete then. So why not again? You can't know until you get up. better than the loser attitude you're talking about. Why stay down? May as well get up and play the best sides - that's what will get us better

I said he would not take over for the reasons given… Are you a bit slow on the uptake by any chance…?

Yet the great Mickey Graham said slipping down the leagues would have no impact on the team come Championship time… a view you agreed with… I am glad you are coming around to the more knowledgeable way of thinking…. It took a while but you got there…!!!

Forever Blue and Breffni
Tomsmith here Cavans most senior poster of good quality posts
Just the two of you lay of poor Loughduff Lad as he knows little about Football and worse that that he posts to let us all know how little he knows.
as regards Michael Grahan he did the best with what he had, always remember the number of retirements, injuries that he had to face. Also the loss of David Givney was incalculable .
We just have no new talent coming on.
The Cavan Gaels club would need to won a few more County titles and feed into the County setup
