Your fascination with all things Cavan football is heart warming, but not surprising. Pedigree is obtained with tradition and titles. Do come back when your homeland obtains either.

Absolutely delighted for Arva today, showed great spirit especially in that 2nd half. That was their toughest game of the campaign and they came up trumps again. All the sweeter because it was a Kerry team they beat

Well done Arva. That's a brilliant result. Looked like it might be going against ye 1st half, but that was a brilliant 2nd half response. Holla Brady was unreal, as was Hoffman and Morris. But overall a great team performance to make it a 6 point swing 2nd half. The disallowed goal was fortunate (although whistle had gone and he had taken a lot of steps by the time he kicked it, even though he was fouled) but still think Arva would have seen it out, were definitely the better team. Well done boys and enjoy the celebrations

Ref made the correct call… After he played the advantage the Emmets player over carried the ball hence the free had to be given for the original offence otherwise it would have been a free out …. Well done to Arva on a superb second half performance…..

That poor lad's head must be exploding today. A Cavan club winning an All-Ireland title ......

Correct call. Whistle had gone. Thought it looked harsh initially, but on replay he was fouled and then never soloed the ball and definitely over carried. It then gets blown and goes back to the free from where the foul was. If whistle has gone after, they'd have reason to be annoyed, but it went before he kicked it

Why would it? It's 2-2 for both of us on the club front if you want to count Drumgoons initial one in 2002 in Cremartin… I merely advocate for the fairness of Div 1 clubs allowed to play junior champ. The county hurling and football is based on linking and fairness, so I believ3 rules should be brought in to regulate at club level. Take nothing away from Arva, they were excellent and fully deserved winners. Would they have won playing Div 2 or 3 opponents all year… we will never know.

Yes correct call by the referee but not actually in line with the rule as its written.
This has always been a bugbear of mine - The referee should actually have given a free out for overcarrying as per rule. But I agree it was the correct call - this is one of the rules that should actually be changed to allow for the original free to be awarded and only the advantage cancelled.
Delighted for Arva - best team by a distance in the second half - only their own shooting kept listowel in it!

They literally got hockeyed in Div 1 and finished bottom of the table so not sure if a lot of learnings there. Probably did learn more from Div 2 campaign year before when they finished top 4 and won League semi final.

Either way, they're not linked right now and teams are not taking it serious during inter county season. If it was linked and Arva were in Div 1 then yes. But that's not the way it happened. League system here is not strong so not the way we judge teams. Championship is, hence Arva were where they were on those results and believe you me, based on their intermediate results they deserved to be relegated and be in Junior

Top performance from Ciaran Brady. Hoffman excellent as well. McCabe not so much going forward - expected more.

But Barry Donnelly looked a real prospect - speed and strength to carry the ball. Caused Listowel defence lots of problems. What age is he?

There were far more higher ranked teams than Arva operating in Junior this year; Ballymacelligot who were 3rd with a game to spare as per the link below in division 1 in Kerry failed to win Junior in Kerry beaten by Listowel in the final.

huge congratulations to arva what a second half performance from the team what a midfield pairing scored 6 or 7 points from play from two midfielders also very tigerish tackling form their defense in the second half. First time in my lifetime i have seen a Cavan team really perform in Croke park in the biggest day of their lives and come out on top in a tight game no moral victories here brilliant to see hope some of it rubs off on cavan . They could do with swapping the arva midfielders with the two non existant lads that played against down in the mckenna cup.

Delighted for Arva, in particular the way they all conducted themselves from start to finish. Listowel's persistent fouling didn't drag them into a slugging match. They all kept playing positive football to the finish. I actually think this helped Arva when the big call was made for the goal. Another Ref might well have given it but I think Arva had invested in the Ref throughout the game by their behaviour and benefitted from the crucial call when it mattered. Probably should have been out the gap much earlier with the chances they created. Wonderful ambassadors for Cavan , very proud of them.

Do you rank Cavan senior team on league!? Did playing div 4 help?

What a day for Cavan football, first time I remember seeing a Cavan team deliver like that in Croke Park. They are such a balanced team who play with such confidence and control , they made everyone in Cavan very proud.
Not to put a damper on things but Ballyhaise were the best team in intermediate from what I could see, never again will we get a better chance to win a double all Ireland .
Special word has to go to Finbar Reilly, Ciaran Brady pretty much said after the game on off the ball that he is the best manager he has ever had and referred to him as one of the best in the country. This is the general feedback that comes back about this man. Cavan football needs Finbarr Reilly and surely he is the next Cavan manager in waiting.
If Arva players and management stick together they could well be back in Croke Park on the same day next year .

Or where Monaghan either but the fact remains! It's an anomaly

Are you getting mixed up here a little? Weird you can't figure out inter county linking league a few years ago and a county (like the vast majority of others) ego don't link it. Is this hard to process for you?

After looking at the match again last night I wuold have to say the referee got it wrong when he blew up for a free when the goal was scored… I hadn't realised the Emmets player hopped the ball going through the tackle after being pulled back… the referee was too quick to whistle and even Finbarr Reilly was gracious enough to say the goal should have stood… It may not have changed the result in any case.. I also think the black card was a very harsh call as the player was trying to execute a shoulder but miss timed it resulting in a foul which was really a yellow card…. you could see the player's disbelief when a black card was shown… Two big calls thankfully that went in Arva's favour but overall they were deserving winners in what was a very good game of football…..
