Big game for Cavan tomorrow…. A win v Offaly will insure a home QF which would help no end.. We took care of Offaly handy enough in the League so we should be able to win… Competition only starts really at the QF stage so let's hope for a good performance in the lead into that… ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3057 - 02/06/2023 07:33:45 2483488 Link 0 |
it would be brilliant if he is started on Sunday and scored a few goals from his direct all out attacking style before they get his brain washed it would really show up the management as if smith was there he have no chance of starting and coach and stats men need more time to get him programmed.

Got the win, topped the table, all ad expected. Very facile win, Offaly lost the head a bit. Pity to concede another early goal, but good to see us run up a score like that and get a few goals ourselves. Did what was asked and sure that's it. Great to see McGovern and Hoffman get time too. Agree totally with all that…. As you say it starts from here but getting a home QF is the bonus… A tussle with Down or Meath down the line looks likely… Offaly like in our league meeting were very poor

Do you go to games? Cavan, like every other inter County team, play a mixture of hard and direct running with periods of controlled play, especially when facing a massed defence. Unfortunately, they found Armagh's defence particularly hard to open up, and exited the Ulster championship with a facile performance. The idea that Graham wants them to play a game where lads are told not to go forward is nonsense. Ciaran Holla, Mcveety, Mckiernan, both Maddens, James Smith when he was there, Oisin Kiernan, even the full back line make direct runs in every game. You sound like a lad with a personal gripe against the current management. Either that or you're one of the lads who turn up to a game once a year and shout "kick it in", regardless of the number of defenders back.

Do you go to games? Any person who actually watches Graham's teams know that they are not coached to sit back. They score nearly 20 points per game on average.

How many did they get against Armagh when it counted…? It's not hard against Division 3/4 cannon fodder… Have a bit of wit good lad…

They won an Ulster title three years ago, beating two division one teams in the process. You're obviously holding some sort of personal grudge. Theres no-one forcing you to watch the games. Take up knitting, 'good lad'.

Why are you worried about the Armagh game it's long over.

That poster has for years done nothing but denigrate the efforts of the county team. If Cavan had beaten Armagh, but subsequently lost to Derry, he'd still be attacking them. I'm guessing that he's either a jilted, former player or a relation of one. Whereas, most of us view the Armagh game within its context: Cavan never got going against them and played very poorly. He can't get by this personal gripe.

Only replying to a poster who somehow thinks Cavan at present are an attacking high scoring team that are great to watch… The dogs in the streets know this is rubbish and I just referenced the Armagh game as an example that when it matters we return to type and go all defensive and hence ended up getting a paltry 12 points which will beat nobody…, Some on here are delusional if they think all is well with this Cavan management setup

They are a high scoring attacking team at our level no one is taking about anything only tailtain competition here no need to be worrying about what happened in another competition enjoy the competition we are in and relax don't be living in the past good man.

You're making things up now, because I'm making you look foolish. I merely said that your claim that Mickey Graham wants Cavan to play laterally and backwards is nonsense. Also, I referenced as evidence the fact that Cavan are a high scoring team. Given the fact that 15 points or so is considered a score that will win many games, tell me the games where Cavan didn't put up decent scores. Yes, I agree that Armagh was a poor performance. However, you said the idea Cavan are an attacking team is rubbish. What other games are you referring to?

You're the one looking foolish… Cavan supporters are no mugs and that's why we had our lowest ever attendance at a home championship game v. Laois.. Real football people are fed up paying in to watch this rubbish

No mate, real football people were there with me in Pearse Park on Saturday. Those who weren't are fair weather fans. You are obviously in the latter category. Our players are exemplary examples of the modern intercounty player. They sacrifice their lives to keep lads like you and me happy. Denigrate them if you want. I refuse to lower myself to that level. Now, which games did they play rubbish in?

Dont agree with you font of wisdom as i said in previous post mickeys teams were much more attack minded in 2019 and 20 in the championship. He has lost his nerve in recent years and in big matches this year and last year apart from the championship game against donegal in which i think we played brilliant football. In the league final last year against tipp and the tailteann cup final against westmeath and the league final against fermanagh this year and championship against armagh all big games he lost his nerve set the team up too defensively and showed the opposition far too much respect and played turgid low risk defesive football and could have easily lost all 4 matches. when you play better opposition you get what you deserve have to have more belief in your players and at least if defeated go out after having a proper go at the opposition.

I'll have to politely disagree with you. The league final this year was a non event played in terrible conditions. Fermanagh, as is their right, set up ultra defensively, making it impossible for Cavan to play our game. Cavan didn't go ultra defensive in the tailteann final. In fact, the Westmeath forwards were left basically one on one with their markers. Their number 11 ran riot in the first half. Yes, the Armagh performance was very poor.

Let us forget the Armagh match and see how we play in the Tailteann - hopefully beyond the QTR finals. Offaly were poor yesterday but we attacked with positivity. There was a lot of pressure on us to perform in the Armagh game.and we didn't. It would be brilliant if we won the Tailteann but it will not be easy with teams like Meath around

Which games…. Take your pick of important matches over the last 2/3 years…. Only real fools pay in to watch county football these days… it is dire to watch.. If this is not the case explain why attendance figures have dropped so much over the years…? Try and work it out…there's a good lad
