Does anyone have any information regarding the Reserve Championships? Are they going ahead this year? GAAhead2017 (Cavan) - Posts: 82 - 01/10/2021 18:55:20 2384063 Link 0 |
A Crosserlough win would at least guarantee them 9th though given how bad Lacken's score difference is so Crosserlough have plenty at stake. Win and they will worst case come 9th and not get sucked into a dog fight. If they were to lose, Ballinagh to win/ draw, Shercock avoid a heavy defeat and Lacken was to get a result then it would be a Crosserlough and Castlerahan relegation final. Who would have thought there would be a possibility of Crosserlough and Castlerahan playing in a (relegation) final at the start of the year.

Big improvement this week you have hit 80% but it is getting easier with 1 v 8 2 v 7 etc. in Inter and Junior and the form well known after 3 Round of the Senior.

12/14 and 85.7% this week. I have chalked off the Killygarry result out of fairness ti myself as they quite clearly didn't see it as a must win game. Will hopefully get to 90-100% success rate next week. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 04/10/2021 12:36:41 2384354 Link 0 |
But they won.

Can't see any upsets in the 1/4 finals to be honest. Mullahoran will relish a go at Gowna but think they will fall short in the end. Like last year 3 of the 4 teams Kingscourt have faced have ended up in the relegation spots and apart from the Lacken game they only squeezed home in 3 of those games. However if Barry Reilly and Joe Dillon can stay fit, you wouldn't bet against them winning it out. They should have too much for Lavey who always seem to have one big game in them but think they used that one up against Castlerahan. Ramor -Ballinagh will be tight but I would expect Ramor to get through by the odd point or two. Can't see Laragh troubling the Gaels at all. In the relegation Killygarry v Castlerahan, I would hesitantly go for Killygarry seeing that they got the win last weekend and its a home game for them. Think Shercock will take Lacken too. My two cents anyways, probably get all wrong Thebunk (Cavan) - Posts: 5 - 06/10/2021 14:18:04 2384611 Link 0 |
What has happened with Castlerahan this year.? Didnt win a single championship game and now in a relegation game away to Killygarry. Missing Flanagan no doubt but still a surprise to be in this position - not many would have predicted that, at the start of the year I dont think. Is it 20yrs in Senior this year for 'Rahan.? Ramor looking good this year again. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4009 - 07/10/2021 11:46:09 2384711 Link 0 |
Castlerahan's general play has been fairly good in my opinion. But their final execution has been dreadful. Whether that is down to a lack of confidence, poor form, lack of hunger?, I watched the Ballinagh game back and thought Castlerahan looked very good in their overall play but they butchered chance after chance. Usually a team in decline struggles to create chances but Castlerahan are creating plenty. I'd fancy them to put that right this weekend, be more clinical, and win with a bit to spare. 97Cavans (Cavan) - Posts: 378 - 07/10/2021 16:29:17 2384781 Link 3 |
We will see the strength of some Clubs panels this weekend in The Reserve Championship those who are still in their respective championships. Will the following clubs win their Reserve matches or indeed will some of them concede Denn, Knockbride, Butlersbridge, Laragh Utd, Cuchualainns and Cavan Gaels Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts: 473 - 08/10/2021 07:12:47 2384846 Link 0 |
Wow - 1-11 to 8pts for Killygarry. Rahan down to Intermediate - bloody hell. Who would have thought that at the start of the year. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4009 - 10/10/2021 17:57:36 2385132 Link 0 |
Where has it all gone wrong for the men from ballyduff and beyond? money can't buy you the likes of Mackey and Sean Brady, their 2 greatest players, and their departure was probably too much of a blow to take. Will they go back to the transfer market and make a couple of signings to get themselves out of intermediate? CavanAgain (Cavan) - Posts: 196 - 11/10/2021 17:31:01 2385274 Link 0 |
Yeah where has it all gone wrong for the men from ballyjamesduff and beyond. Do we think they'll revisit the transfer market and make a couple more big signings in a bid to return to the senior ranks? CavanAgain (Cavan) - Posts: 196 - 11/10/2021 20:00:41 2385287 Link 0 |

It's a 13 a side competition. Something seriously wrong with Cavan football if senior can't field 15 a side second teams tom84 (Cavan) - Posts: 334 - 12/10/2021 18:25:51 2385416 Link 0 |
Why do you say there's something seriously wrong with Cavan Football? This is reserve football and we've had some of the most difficult two years in our lifetime with Covid. Some lads have taken time out for various reasons, back to college, back to work, the games came thick and thin, regular training sessions, so injuries were a big thing this year. It's not a normal year, neither was last year, so there's nothing wrong with senior football in Cavan. Both Bailieboro and the Gaels could've fielded 15 aside teams against each other if they wanted on Sunday.

How you do know Ricey wasn't asked to go to Derry, maybe he was asked and declined and saw a better opportunity with Cavan. Stay local you say, with who? we had Terry Hyland and Co there for long enough and won nothing. Ricey is an All Ireland Winner with good pedigree so absolutely no harm in giving it a go, he might add a bit of grit to the team. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 13/10/2021 13:32:01 2385504 Link 0 |
