The excitement just keeps going. Oh all want to know about Cavan. The build up to the Ulster Final, the endless holding your wisht to how good Donegal are, whilest holding your Gar of Philadelphia private voice inside, was so hard. They all knew Dubs n Donegal were set. Seán Cavanagh screamed it on Sunday Game. Colm O'Rourke said you could drive a bus through Cavan's defence. Didn't Cavan win experts? So I arrived to the folks house for the game. Keep the rituals, wearing jersey from 2005, arrive at same time, sit in same seat, chat to dog, and away we go when father, sweating ten minutes before the game, finally seats down. Looks like Cavan will have to beat Financially doped Dublin, the GAA, The CCCC and probably the officials next weekend.

If we can play with same intensity as last Saturday a tidy up a bit on our finishing and composure when on the ball then i will be more than happy. Once we put in a performance the result will take care of itself. kildare blue (Cavan) - Posts: 578 - 29/11/2020 10:04:02 2316386 Link 1 |
Wish Cavan the best of luck and I just hope the Ref does not do what they all do -give the 50/50 decisions to the team that is expected to win. The Dubs are very good side but like all teams they do not like to be put under pressure , or their keeper being put under pressure with their kick outs. Great display the last day out-keep it up. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 29/11/2020 18:35:23 2316575 Link 1 |

Good luck on Saturday. Gave it your all. Great to get a game against Dublin. Just a pity that your fabulous fans can't get to it. Would love to have been there for a great game and atmosphere rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2564 - 30/11/2020 15:51:26 2317001 Link 3 |
Preliminary round to Ulster champions....some achievement.......Why could the cccc not appoint a Munster or Connaught referee ?

not so sure about that rte stated that brannigan informed cassidy about the foul but called it a push this was heard on his microphone which is a yellow card but cassidy issued a black card. breffnibluewhite (Cavan) - Posts: 479 - 30/11/2020 19:58:49 2317131 Link 0 |
Actually looking forward to sat eve and it's a while since a cavan performance had me looking forward to the next game, especially a game that they are almost certain to get well beaten in. But I really don't care about the result. If cavan play with the same intensity, desire and effort as they did in the ulster final they will have no reason to feel anything other than elated, regardless of the result. They have already done themselves and the county a world of good. Great to be able to say that we have players nailed on for Ulster player of the year and for all stars if they go ahead for this year. wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1720 - 30/11/2020 23:25:39 2317193 Link 0 |

Surprised this topic isn't hopping, maybe its a bit early, maybe some (like myself) are savouring the Ulster final win for as long as we can, maybe there isn't enough genuine belief that we can in fact beat Dublin. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5200 - 01/12/2020 13:37:41 2317306 Link 0 |
I have a problem with this and the roll of Brannigan in this black card saga. Its clear that there was a foul for a push/late tackle/shoulder in the back. But it is clear that the referee didnt award a free for it. He stopped play, consulted with his linesman, and issued a yellow card. From my reading of the rule book a linesman may bring to the attention of the referee instances of foul play during a break in play. It is not the job of the linesman to call frees as they happen (unlike soccer). So my question is Did Cassidy stop play for a Free called by Brannigan? If so thats not in the rule book. And If so and Branningan said it was a push Why was a black card issued? indaknownow (Offaly) - Posts: 112 - 01/12/2020 14:41:00 2317325 Link 1 |
Regarding the Ref, he will know Cavan were shafted in the Ulster final and I would be surprised if he didnt, even sub consciously, give Cavan a few decisions this weekend. He is a Down man, what would he have against Cavan. The only problem might be has notions of getting the AI final and going against the Dubs might do him harm as they seem to run the GAA these days. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 01/12/2020 15:05:49 2317330 Link 0 |
Isn't is always a ref who hasn't done the semi finals who gets the final? (Apart from i think replays). cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5200 - 01/12/2020 15:21:32 2317340 Link 0 |
Should be a Munster referee for Cavan v Dublin and Ulster referee for Mayo v Tip. David Gough is a Meath man and a very good ref but he's Leinster and Branagan is Down. Leinster v Ulster should be a Munster ref end of.

OK, thanks for the explanation. It's especially welcome given I didn't question the county or province either referee was from and was talking about something completely different. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5200 - 01/12/2020 17:33:20 2317390 Link 0 |
