Replying To PatTheDandy:  "Congrats to Mickey & the whole setup. Team selection & gameplan spot on and perfectly executed. K. Clarke, Faulkner, Gunner held back deep where they were needed, and the wing backs were the men left to get up and help out our 3 forwards. Thought we might get off to a good start and have 60 good minutes in us this time. But I also thought Donegal were a better team than they actually proved to be. They probably underperformed a bit, but if they were that much better than us, we wouldn't have been the better team for all but 5 minutes of the game and they would have kicked on after their small purple patch.

We are probably now on a par with Donegal & Tyrone as one of the top teams in Ulster. No doubt about it, Mickey is the man, a knockout match specialist. Significant care now needs to be taken with him that he is not poached by a professional outfit now like Jim McGuinness was. Celtic are going very poor at the moment on their quest for 10 in a row and they have form at poaching the best GAA managers, which is a worry. I would suggest some sort of surveillance operation is put in place until we win our first all All Ireland. I wouldn't imagine it will be required anymore than 4 to 56 weeks, and therefore I think it would prove worth the money to bring us our first All Ireland since 1952.

I think it would be the same gameplan as the Donegal game again Vs Dublin now. For the first time in recent memory we stopped the runners coming through the middle against a decent big strong team, and still got plenty of possesion into our own forward line. Runners through the middle is Dublin's main attacking weapon so there isn't really much else you want to be changing at this point. Mickey will surely soon be running out of rabbits to pull from his wooly hat having even shrewdly lied to our own media to say that the game had come too soon for James & Conor Smith. Stephen Murray the only potential rabbit left I can think of at this moment in time that might be fit to come from nowhere and have the legs to make an impact against the Dubs for a section of the game.

There should now be a big push to get the Dubs out of Croke Park for the semi final as there is no good reason for it to be there when supporter capacity is not in the argument. I see some other posters have suggested Navan. I would not start the bargaining there. Croker is a home venue for the Dubs, and so we should be proposing a home venue ourselves. Not sure what sort of condition it is in at the moment or how it is setup to facilitate the TV camera & media requirements of an AI semi but Bunnoe would spring to mind as our best option for me. We should start from there and accept Navan as a worst case scenario compromise."
What planet are you living on, weird post. I presume (i hope) you're been sarcastic about celtic or the likes poaching Mickey and with winning an all Ireland

Congrats to Cavan on a great win, delighted for ye.
Mickey Graham seems like a superb manager, especially with his comments to take the semi final out of Croke Park, it needs to be said more and more I think

We need to keep highlighting the issue of the referees performance on Sunday as it is nothing new in Gaa circles and it is one of the reasons why it is do difficult for up and coming teams to make a break through. I now believe that this present team of blue giants will indeed put it up to this fantastic skillful dublin team and the match will be much tighter than most of us expect. I also am convinced that we will then like last Sunday get shafted by the referee or match officials which will eventually cost us the match the same way as it should have done on Sunday. The fact that RTE will no longer highlight any of these issues is keeping the pressure off the referees. Anyone can make one or two in a match but what we saw last Sunday was at a completely new level and never before have i seen them all made against one team.

I have complained him to Croke Park - every right thinking person should do likewise.

I had the same thought. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we could stay with Dublin for most of this game and make it a contest, only to be shafted by a dodgy decision.

I'll never forget portlaoise in 2014 in the u21 game. Still bitter about it.

David Gough had a brilliant game in the first final last year. He literally only got 2 calls wrong all game (the penalty should've been retaken and Jonathan Lyne was tripped late on as Kerry were breaking up the field), and yet. . .RTE saw fit to let Ciaran Whelan and Joe Brolly lambast him for rightly sending off Johnny Cooper.

All referees know - you punish Dublin at your peril. Even while being hammered, there was a textbook near-hand tackle from Ronan Jones last week and a free was given against him.

Agreed, Gough is a good referee, probably the best in the game atm.

There is definitely an issue with the rules especially around the tackle that need to be addressed, theres too much leeway for referees to interpret it subjectively. For example, Maddens black card at the weekend. A yellow possibly, but not a black.

The smaller counties need to address these things with croke park because inevitably a team is going to get shafted eventually.

Cavans run in Ulster reminds me so much of my favourite film Gladiator. Russell Crowe states in the film some time when death stares you in the face all you can do is stare right back and smile.
Three times in the white white heat of Ulster championship Cavan stared defeat in the face there she was like in the past 23 years with her arms outstretched beckoning us calling us taunting us come on lads ye are cavan come home this is where ye belong. Some how this magnificent battallion of blue Gladiators managed to fight on against all the odds and escape her clutches and after 5 long weeks lead my Mickey the great we arrived at Colosseum in Armagh ready for the final battle. At this stage unbeknown to most only Mickey the great the blue battallion were battle hardened and forged in steel from this white heat and would not bend or break for anyone.
The Authorities had deemed as per usual that the underdogs would be slaughtered and victory would go the the green and white gladiators from the north who were also a magnificent force. To ensure that this occurred they made Claudius master of ceremony with strict instructions to ensure the desired result was achieved. To every ones amazement the contest turned out to be far from the one sided affair that was expected with the blue gladiators well in at the interval and even more so looked to be in full control entering the home straight. Claudius then realising that he would be roasted over coal pith and fed to the pigs if the north were to lose rushed in and delivered the final blow the last of five a knife to the back if the blue battalion and this one looked different it looked a mortal blow. The blue gladiators staggered backwards shedding blood and tears and there she was again defeat staring at them enticing them telling them it was a magnificent defeat no honour lost they could not win they were cavan this is how it all ways ends. But not this group of blue giants lead by Russell galligan. Battle formation he roared and for one last time this heroic group of blue gladiators turned looked defeat straight in the face smiled at her and smashed her out the gate.
Dublin have not faced the white heat of championship football this year yet . lets bring it to them. Cavan abu

There has been an issue with the tackle for decades. It has been refereed wrong for a long time now. The interpretation of it can definitely give a 5 or 6 point swing in a game. It needs addressing. Also I think the black card is now been dished out at the discretion of the referee.
I believe that the only black card given to Cavan this year that was truly black was Ciaran Brady's v Down. That is what the black card was brought in for.. correct me if I'n wrong here , I may have missed another one. and by the way It's not just Cavan that are falling foul of this.
Did anyone ever find out why Cormac Costelloe was black-carded for v Meath ?.

Gerry Smith dragged a lad down that was potentially through on goal near the end of the Down game.

He did have help from Conroy in doing so, and the right call was probably a half a black card and 5 mins each in the bin.

But that would have left us with 13 men for 5 mins, so the full black card for Gerry and 14 men on the field probably worked out better for us.

And no explanation as to why. .

Would have thought if the decision was based on the word of the linesman, then that would be what went into the referee's report.

There wasn't another camera/microphone there to contradict the linesman's story so it seems strange that there could be any grounds for a successful appeal.

The only thing I can conclude is that the CCC believed Costello's version of events over those of the linesman. And that's worrying.

That'd true. Though Connolly got off a few years for alteration with Lee Keegan xwhen he shouldn't have.

Even Philly McMahon eye gouging Donaghey, nothing thing done with it by CCC.
