Is Later This Year Ideal For Divisional Teams

Tomsmith here

By now we have all heard that probably all Gaa completions will not take place or if they do it will be very limited in nature,
I feel that it would be an ideal time for the GAA family to come together via the Phone and arrange a few Divisional teams to be ready to go once the ban is lifted.
Sure the selection process would about who would be in and who would be out could be very entertaining .
No doubt social media would play a big part in organising this.

Tomsmith here a staunch longtime supporter of one of Cavans greatest teams.
Perhaps Tommy you would reconsider your opposition to Divisional teams in light of what was said away down in Kerry where Divisional teams have been credited with the powerful Kerry teams of the past and present

I don't believe there is a significant link between Kerry's success and divisional teams. The standard may not be as high with our traditional clubs but ultimately it means more players playing the game which can only have a positive effect on football in Cavan.

I do not agree with you in relation to people playing the game. Take the party men who want to drink and tip toe about at a Sat or Sunday game just for the fun of it. Cavan is going nowhere . We need a compeditate league or Divisional teams that the few fellows from West Cavan can shire

Gaa is about promoting gaa games. Divisional teams would mean less playing football.
Club football in cavan is losing too many players to other sports we need ideas to get players to keep playing

Look at the Kerry championship final and it will tell you that Kerry Gaa got rid of the senior teams who were only in it for the fun
Party men and senior teams has no place in Cavan football get them out and play fellows who want to play Championship football and let the party men tip toe about at Junior level

When you listen to the Kerry Manager after the League victory and he said that the Good competition in the Kerry Championship the got 4/5 new players that fitted into the senior squad . We have to remember that in the Kerry Championship no weak team exists all weak teams are amalgamated to form an amalgamated strong senior championship team. As one that supports a big club ( Cavan Gaels tops for past 20 years ) I I say to weaker teams amalgamate and give the big clubs a good game .

Your "great club", when they leave Cavan is a perfect example of all that is wrong with Cavan football.

Seamus Tomsmith here from Cavan

Seamus I am sorry to say I was proved wrong on a couple points and it takes a big man to admit it .
First 10 years ago I said that west Cavan had let the County team down by not producing good County footballers,
There I have been proved wrong.
Secondly I said Divisional teams were a necessity -- while I will hold my counsel on this one I feel this Cavan team went out to prove me wrong and

Now that the lockdown is ending ( where Gaeilic football is concerned) I feel that agfew Divisional games would kick start the football in the County

I feel that after the championship is over we should gather up a few regional teams ( The best four from each club that is not already on the senior County team . Make up Divisional teams to unearth new talent.. I would say that we would be very unlucky if we dident get 4 or 5 footballers for the County panel

Now is the time to gather up a few Divisional teams
You could Have Cavan Gaels and a few other to up a Division
you could have Kingcourt and a few other Clubs to make a Disision
You could have Gowns and a few other Teams made up from surrounding clubs to make Division
Your could have Ramour and a few other Clubs to make a Division.

That would be 4 Divisions with two games on a Friday / Saturday and Sunday night
This is only a suggestion for the Good odf of Cavan Football
Surely we will pick up a few new footballers

Can anyone improve on my suggestion
