No agenda whatsoever. I'd love to see McGuinness there , I believe he's just what we need.
But Unfortunately I know for a fact it won't happen. Not in Cavan nor in any other county for the foreseeable future.

Presume you mean Galway utd?

There's yet to be a cent of oil money invested there so until there is he won't be touching them.

There are 9 football counties currently looking for a manager and we are by far the most attractive prospect of them.

If he is interested in getting back into GAA management (I don't know what his family reasons were for leaving soccer but maybe he wants 3 or 4 years away from it) then we're best placed to offer him that opportunity.

Jim lives in Glasgow with his family. He got a year left to do on his UEFA 'A' coaching badge.
He travels Europe to lectures and stuff and his commitment to Sky sees him in Ireland more weekends.
Cavan job or any other job is totally out of the question.
He's hardly going to commute from Glasgow to manage Cavan is he ?

You know a few details and you think you know it all.
The man was just in China for god sake, you dont think he can manage Cavan. Stop pretending you have some inside knowledge when you have no more a clue than the rest of us.

I saw this morning on the RTÉ website that Mayo have had a clear out of their backroom team. I wonder would it be a good idea to get Armagh man Tony McEntee involved in the new Cavan set up, particularly if we go with a more inexperienced manager.

Has there been any word on a new manager? Northern Sound's Damien Donohoe tweeted the other day saying McGuinness is out of the running (always seemed too much of a dream appointment in my opinion) and that Peter O'Reilly has ruled himself out.

It appears that Peter Reilly and Jason O'Reilly are now the front runners. Tony McEntee is also interested and has put together a good team.
The county board are leaning towards appointing an inside man. Can't get my head around this, once again they are opting for the cheaper option. McEntee would be the obvious choice. Peter and Jason have no experience under top level inter county management teams.
I can't see either of them enticing all our best players into the setup, I think McEntee would have a much better chance of this.

It's always the cheaper option with our CB simple because they won't spend the money. Don't think they have it to spend either.
Hyland was also the cheaper option when he was appointed.
McEntee appointment if interested with Jason , Mickey and Peter as selectors would be the ideal way forward but egos would get in the way then.
We have a situation in Cavan where wannabe managers with potential want to swim at the deep end alone instead of learning their trade from someone in the know like McEntee.
Small men with big heads will never win you anything, either on the field or on the line

Why do you think McEntee is being let go by Mayo Martin? Cost vrs Benefit is the answer.

McEntee informed Rochford that he wouldn't be continuing as did Donie Buckley. He wasn't let go by Mayo

There is nobody within the county fit or experienced enough to manage the senior county team.
Yes there are great potential managers who in 2/3 years time would be well able to take the regions IF they had a few years as selectors with a proven manager with an inter county track record.

Correct.
If you appoint a top class man with experience at top level, then use Jason as S&C Coach/Selector, Peter Reilly & Mickey Graham selectors. Finbar O Reilly as trainer you have a top class team.
Unfortunately there isnt a hope in hell of this happening as they are unwilling to spend the money on the structures required to compete at the top level.

Writing was on the wall. Too much money spent on "experts" that were not improving the situation.

If we were able to get up to Mayos level over the last 5 years I'd be happy.
Lost all ireland by a point in 17.
Lost all ireland by a point in replay in 16.
Lost to Dublin (winners) in semi final replay in 15.
Lost to Kerry (winners) in semi final replay in 14.
Lost to Dublin in Final in 13.
Lost to Donegal in final in 12.

We haven't beaten a decent team in Championship football in that period. They haven't got that much more talent in my opinion either.

Our last few backroom teams weren't strong enough or knowledgeable enough.
Would Jason, Mickey peter, finbarr all work together with a top class manager?
I doubt not , probably because each or most want the hot seat themselves.

If you dont think Mayo have more talent than us you are living in different planet than us. Mayo were top team before Mr McEntee arrived and my point is he didnt really improve them. He is a name and there is as much doubt around him as anyone else. If he is interested he should be heard out but dont try and build him up as the messiah.

Nobody is saying he's a Messiah but he's better and more experienced than anyone we have within the county. And than includes what we have had this past 10 years too.
If he's interested the CB should hear him out.
I don't see many from outside the county showing any interest.

Who has McEntee managed to be so highly regarded? He was joint manager with Crossmaglen. McConville supposedly the better of that combination. He managed St Brigid's in Dublin for 2 years, with no success.

Serious word is that they are looking at Owen Lennon and Colin McAree from Monaghan but this is dependent on Malachi o Rourge staying on in Monaghan. If Mal steps down the pair are touted for there instead

The noises coming from the local paper would suggest a local appointment. If McEntee is interest in the job then hand on heart I would want him on the ticket. If he was available two years ago he would have been a shoe in.

Of the local candidates i hope that we don't have some sort of compromise scenario. Let the man selected get on with the job of picking his own back up team. I am not an advocate of a joint manager scenario.

Sadly if what the celt say's is true Cavan may as well sell the facilities for we will go no place fast. Sadly all that comes across to me from reading the it is that it's a rotten clique running the show and the chairman must think we are all gullible. A combination of the people mentioned will never work for all have their own agenda and aspirations.
