Doesn't matter who comes in, he wont change how things currently are, he might persuade a few lads to come into the squad that have been reluctant to come in before.

Listen folks, I keep repeating myself, football in Cavan at the moment is awful, the club structure is in a mess, has been for a long time yet they fail to do anything about it. How on earth can you expect a County Team to perform when players are not playing regular, competitive league and championship football. The County Panel is picked in October and from October to Ulster Senior Championship, a lot of these players will only play a handful of games, how many players in the last 5/6 years went into various County Panels and played little or no competitive football, apart from a few challenges.

The underage structure is just as bad, development squads are doing more damage than good, players are going in at u16 and by the time they reach adulthood, they get fed up. Players in clubs who dont get picked for development squads lose interest then because they think theyre not good enough, even though they might be late developers, training gets cancelled, matches get cancelled because teams dont have enough players.

All kids should be developed, not just the ones showing potential at the time - some of Irelands greatest footballers played no underage county football, yet they went on become some of the best. Dont bring just players into Breffni to be developed, bring all players in, bring the coaches to the clubs and the schools.

At long last some that speaks my language. I say get rid of the development squads and give the money to the clubs to develop their present and future players. I have been saying it for years but you may as well talk to a walling wall.

If the Celt is to be believed then Mcgleenan walked when it became clear that the players wanted his right hand man Lorcan Martin removed. The reason being the disgust at Ciaran Brady being stripped of the captaincy for ballybofey after roaring at the line in croker for an injured mcveety to be subbed off. Absolutely dismal management if that's what really happened.

What a load of rubbish. That must have been the reason Cavan lost to Donegal then??? Player power is it.

if the Management dealt with Brady in line with any discipline policy. His behaviour was unacceptable and that cannot be argued or defended. Simple as that.

If player power is the reason why we lost the management after getting them back to Division 1 I feel sorry for the next person that comes in. I congratulate the management on the way they performed and if Cavan had any sense they should have bent over backwards to retain them.

One might question then why Cavan did not wish to proceed forward from their own 65 against Tyrone it would seem the old day's are back with player power ruling the roost . Shame on them the players that being the case we Cavan can do without anyone that were doing it their way with their own agenda neither can we condone it in anyway shape or form.

He wasn't up to it. The whole back room team from 2017 left ,and only lorcan martin the fellow Tyrone man stayed on. They obviously had no belief in what was going on.

The players were right. Why give up their time if not happy with management. And it was a weak division 2. It wasn't that much of an achievement. Look at how the other promoted Roscommon, have faired in super 8s.

Well foolsgold you are happy with player power good luck to you. You saw what Tyrone did to Roscommon recently. The sad thing is Cavan now have to find a new manager a job I don't expect many outside the county want maybe the Banty might as he likes the big time or maybe SJ might like to have a go at leading the team.
This Cavan team sadly will be in Division 2 after the 2019 season and let me tell you they will be in Division 3 in 2020
You condone player power and sadly this is why Cavan football will never see the glory day's again with attitudes like yours.
The majority of the present bunch of players are probably very poor intermediate standard and this sadly is how it's going to be for the future unless a man with a strong back bone might come in and weed the rubbish we call county players.
You could see player power in Brewster against Tyrone when no one made an effort to run forward now I know why they did not want to play for the management shame on them.

Get a hold of yourself Seán. You are on some rant after a post that was concocted out of barstool hearsay. There was no player revolt and if there was McGleenan should say so.
Player power, as you say, can be a good thing. Should good competitive players stand by and say nothing while being instructed to play as wing backs? Do u think they want to train and sacrifice all winter and spring to play rugby style handpassing? If the manager is ruining their chances of progress then I hope to god the players speak up. This is why Caoimhin found himself on the bench

That's because Cavan were very obviously progressing under Terry Hyland. Have gone backwards since he left. Look at Galway's current position if you don't believe me. Under Terry we beat that team

It's too young at 18 to have no football to play other than maybe a game or two in an U20 championship. Why not have an U20 league & championship like we have currently at U17.It would be up to the Co Board (not the minor board) to put these structures in place .If we have lads dropping out after U17 there's always the chance we could miss out on the next Conor McManus/Brian Fenton players who weren't selected for their counties at minor level but are now in the top bracket of footballers in the country, indeed in Fenton's case he only broke into the Dublin U21 team in his last year at U21."
THe best thing to do is bring back Hyland and let him improve on these average players. It would seem people were happy with 80 minuets of lateral and back play foot bat ball instead of looking for a win which was there. By the way who ever posted the article in the celt they will be sorted. Watch this space.

Yer getting awful bould Sean.

How will the player "get sorted" when there is no management team in place to "sort" him?

I see you are back slagging Terry again too but for some reason you have dropped the "Mr Hyland". For a man of your years you have a bit of growing up to do.

The job will go to an internal man as there is no one out there mad enough to take us on. And to be honest I think the only men who made real progress with team in modern times were Terry Hyland and Eamonn Coleman. Both Cavan men in one way or another - one born and bred, the other married into the county. Its time to stop fantasizing about the big name coming, look to our own and get a bit of pride going again. The most important thing is actually to get a solid backroom team in place to support whoever fronts it. S&C has to be a key thing as we are quite a way off Div 1 standards. Forward coaching is something else we need to work on.

Your problem is not the managers it's the players with big ego's plain and simple. Bring in the names that are being mentioned and it will be a disaster. Bring in a man with a back bone and will not listen to those in high positions that know it all or should I say think they know it all.
Play the players on their ability not on what others think about them?? team players united with one goal or show them the players gate on their way out. No place for malingerers if you know what I mean.
Do you think dropping Joe Dillon Barry Reilly Mossy Corr Dunne Dunne McDermot Brady McEnroe to name just a few was a wise move off course not I might even apply for the job myself with Donal Keogan and Fordy as my right hand men along with Martin McGovern Padraig Dolan Peter Reilly . Bring in Paul McCorry hold onto J Cribbin and I think that would be a hard act to follow and I guarantee you success would follow for sure. Pride pride pride isn't that whats it's all about Let the old folk see a few glory years before they pass on to meet the greats of yesteryear.
Now chew on that. People with ambition for the future of Cavan defense and attack minded individuals to bring pride back to the jersey and then bring in the likes of Jason Micky Kieran ect in a few years to continue the success they would take over.

And what experience do you have of managing an inter county team to qualify you to take a team in Div 1?

Also, the majority of players you mention above and claim "were dropped" were indeed not dropped but did not or could not commit, one also retired.

I chewed on that nonsense and I didnt like the taste so I spat it out.

You read it all the same and tried to digest it you see thats why we are where we are you did not like the truth so like many more spat it out. Having inter county experience as a manager is not required but having the ability to play 15 players in their correct position and having 15 more that can do the same. Working on S&F along with positional tactics don't require a genius but you do require the players to be strong enough to play with their brain as well as their feet.
Very difficult watching players that don't seem to have an idea.

Yes there are two options instead of reading Jason Micky Peter Finbar ect either bring back the management just gone or the management previous to them for unfortunately I would feel sorry for the people mentioned above to destroy what might be a successful time in management over taking over this Cavan job.
With player power rampant which was very obvious in Brewster they would have no chance unless off course they become one of the boy's. Micky is doing very well in Longford and if I were him I would stay there for a few more years. He has won senior titles now so do what is expected by the county bring your club to a provincial title and win your final in Croke Park then the next step is County management. You must earn the respect of everyone around you to be successful at the higher level. Jason has won his first senior management title go and do it again and again Jason and bring your team to win Ulster and represent Ulster in Croke Park Paddy's day.
