Can't see that 15 lining up like that in those positions. And there probably will be changes to line up.

I think that from looking at that starting team, Madden will go in full forward with McDermott coming out to the '40. McVeety would be a great impact sub but if he is fit then he has to start. I think Gearoid will start in the middle as selected and Buchanan needs a big game to allow him to roam forward where possible. I can't wait for this one! Looking forward to a packed......ahem, 'Kinspan Breffni'!

Monaghan supporters very the majority know this is no easy game and if we get out of breffni by a point we will be delighted. It's a local derby Cavan hate Monaghan's guts. So they are going to throw everything at this game. Monaghan have the men to stop Cavan key players. McAdam will pick up McKiernan, Karl O'Connell will pick up mackey and maybe Colin Walshe or even Ryan McAnespie to pick up McVeety. On paper Monaghan have a better more settle team but matches aren't won on paper. The Cavan starting line up ar McVeety is full strength. Where the game could be won is the benches, Monaghan with The two duffys, malone, mcanespie Dessie mone, darren Hughes hold the key. I don't see the Cavan players making as big an impact.
It will be tight and could go either way it think Monaghan by 2.

"Cavan hate monaghans guts" is a bit of an over statement !
Jez it's only a game of football !!
Fierce Rivalry might be a better phrase !!!
Plus it depends on what part of the county you're from. Redhills, Cootehill Kingscourt would see Monaghan as the big rivalry, West around Blacklion would see it as Fermanagh and south of the county would definitely see it as being Meath !

Best of luck to both teams. Monaghan are favourites

Monaghan wont have any surprises,Cavan will have a few and with Mattie's knowledge of the Monaghan players strengths and weaknesses I feel we will really frustrate them ,the game could reach boiling point if things don't go the way Monaghan expect.A few Monaghan supporters tell me that a lot of the Monaghan players are going round with their heads up their arse and they are just ripe for a kicking in Breffni. The excitement is building nicely, all the bars in Cavan and Monaghan will be full of expert tacticians(talking utter sh*te) on Friday and Saturday night, but its all part of the craic, should be a mighty day in Breffni, hope it doesn't piss down too much.

Replying To cavanblueman:  "You heard it here first....Cavan will deploy a very defensive system on Sunday, the aim being to stop McManus & McCarron. They've been deploying those tactics in training for the last 6 weeks, so it will be up to Monaghan to break them down, and in my opinion, if Cavan keep their discipline, they could win this game.

But, there's a lot of gibberish coming from a lot of Cavan supporters. Monaghan are among the better teams in the Country, they've held their own in Division One for a few years and won two recent Ulster Titles. Cavan have won nothing since 1997, we are on par with Tipperary & Clare as it stands, both better known as hurling strongholds. I'm afraid thats where Cavan Football is at the moment, and unless that get a good run in this years Championship, we'll still be on par with them. Outside of Cavan, nobody actually cares about Cavan Football, we are not a threat to any of the bigger teams, they view us as they view the likes of Westmeath, Laois etc - if even we beat Monaghan on Sunday, Tyrone and Donegal will see it as a very comfortable Ulster Final for them. So take off your blue blinkered glasses and get to grips with the fact that Cavan Football is where we belong, in the 2nd tier of Gaelic Football."
for someone who accuses people of having blue-blinkered glasses (whatever the hell they are) and who is accusing us of having an inflated opinion of ourselves , you have assumed that if we somehow beat Monaghan that we are straight in to the Ulster final. Apparently we don't even need to consider Down as we are so superior to them. Ironic or what ?

Those Monaghan supporters lied to you.

A good club team would beat that Cavan outfit as selected. Monaghan are useless if they don't win by at least 10 points.

Prediction; Monaghan 2-17 Cavan 0-8

Really? Judging by the past few years I would have thought the opposite.

He didn't make the race to be fit in time. He was injured.

Best of luck to Mattie and the boys tomorrow - its going to take a hell of an effort We need massive games from our experienced players like McKiernan , Mackey and Johnston to have any hope Johnston has never played well in the real big games and time is running out for him to deliver - I think we will need goals to win it and hopefully he can bag one or two. Personally I would have had Dillon in for Clerkin - ( you need a physical presence in there to rattle the defenders - Clerkin is a good man to carry the ball but we have a lot of his type already ie Martin Reilly , Mackey & Gerry Smith etc. Also I don't think McEnroe is a good choice - he got the complete run around against Tyrone last year and as far as I know hasn't played county football since. I would have had McLoughlin in the full back line with Murray a half-back They re just personal opinions and I d be delighted to proven wrong . Good luck too to the under - 17 s - a win would be a great start to the day !

Big day for the County today, lots of the boys have been around since the early days of Terry Hyland's regime. It's now time to deliver!

Best of luck boys you can make a major breakthrough today!

Looks like its going to be a dirty wet day. That will suit Cavan better.
The win is on... Cavan by 2-3 points, and a couple of goals making the difference.

Best of luck to the boys today, no reason why this team should not beat Monaghan
