Great regret was occasioned by the untimely passing on January 20 2008 of 46-year-old Garda PJ Duffy of Clifferna, Stradone and Harcourt Terrace Garda Station in Dublin. A true ambassador for the Gardai, PJ was a GAA man through and through. He followed the game all his life and had a particular love for his local team, Laragh United. Playing with Laragh from a young age, he was an outstanding clubman on the field of play and was a member of the three-in-a-row SFC-winning side of the early 1980s. He was a former senior Player of the Year with Laragh and the 2007 jubilee team and club officials led the club's Guard of Honour at his removal.
