A native of Killeshandra, well-known local businessman Noel Brady of Main Street, Cavan passed away following a long illness. In his youth, he played gaelic football for Killeshandra Leaguers as well as for a local club in Sligo, while working there. He attended his first All-Ireland final in 1952 - when Cavan claimed Sam Maguire for the fifth time - and rarely missed a final in either football or hurling thereafter.
