The entire community was plunged into deep shock and sorrow by the passing of Martina Cusack of Church Road, who was one of the parish's most-respected citizens. Martina was synonymous with all the organisations in the local community, including the GAA club - camogie in particular. Such were the crowds turning out to pay their final respects to Martina, that members of Crosserlough GAA club had to direct traffic, first to the family home and then again on the day of the funeral.
