Tom passed away in October and was a popular man in the Cornafean community , his family having played a major part in establishing the GAA in Cavan. Tom himself was a proprietor of McSeains licensed premises and grocery establishment, and also served as the local postmaster for over half a century. Tom's late father Pol achieved something unique back in 1909 by being elected secretary of the Cavan county board while his father JP was holding the office of chairman. The partnership lasted three years. Pol would also later act as Cavan county board chairman and secretary and was also one of the early trustees of Jones Road, now Croke Park.Tom himself would become a prominent official with Cornafean GAA, as well as a valued member of Cumann Luthchleas Gael.
