Marie Maloney (nee McGilly) was born on February 24, 1931 in Clones and was known for being a lady of many talents, with dancing, singing, skiing and golfing amongst her many exploits. Mary met her late husband the well known local solicitor George V. Maloney while working in Cavan. Following her passing in October, both members of the Cavan Golf Club and Cavan Gaels GAA performed a Guard of Honour at her funeral mass at Cavan Cathedral.
